Though improved over the last 5 years, this remains one of my least favorite airports. Despite the facelift, there are larger portions that are substandard for a 3rd world airport, let alone a hub link to the whole of Central and South America. For the most part, you'll be able to park quickly and get to your terminal. In fact the garage parking is quite convenient and probably the best part of the airport. The admiral's club is one of their worst. I prefer the one world lounge that comes with Priority Pass membership in E.

Flew here from Pittsburgh. It was very busy when I got there. Very long walk to the baggage claim from my gate needs more moving sidewalks. When walking and the baggage claim is far take the sky train. Do not do what I did. Instead of taking the tram I walked take the tram!

Miami airport is enormous and that's the only problem with it. There are long hallways with no moving walkways on them. So it's walk, walk, walk and if you have any problems with walking or anything that makes it difficulty for you, you need to think about that. It's up, down, up, down, walk, walk, walk. They'll have 3 elevators with one working and have to wait in line to get onto them. Then they're packed with people with suitcases, suitcase holders and then they have to move out of the elevator to let people off for a different floor and then get back on. If you have a connecting flight you have to take that into account and get to where you need to go or you'll miss your flight for sure at that place. And I heard announcements several times of them trying to find people who they were looking for a flight. Everyone is great with helping if you have questions, all the staff that I met up with are very nice people. But wish they would have thought with the long, long hallways to take that into consideration to make it easier, faster to move through. And if someone needs to sit down it would be nice to put a bench(s) here and there that someone could sit on if need be. Know that it's not easy to do in places but they have to consider that everyone is not a well, twenty year old so to speak that has no problems. There are people with children, with respiratory difficulties, hard walking, assisting people in wheelchairs and others who would appreciate a place to sit down on long hallways, waiting for elevators or trams. And my not have the financial means of adding more money to their trip for help with getting around. Give you a little relief from taking a turn and seeing that you have to walk what it looks like to be another couple of blocks and wondering when it's going to end and how much farther do I have to go now, when is it going to stop. I myself have made travel plans to stay away from certain airports that can be a pain to go through after I try them several times and finally give up, use other airlines, work other ways of getting around it to make it easier.

If you're traveling American Airlines, you will be fine and love this airport. It has the American Express Centurion lounge, swanky new renovated terminal with many restaurants and lots of clean new bathrooms. In other words, it's amongst the best you can expect in the USA.
However, if you look at all the other terminals, greatness slips it by a wife margin. For starters the internet in this airport is horrible. It is practically nonexistent. There are a lot of good restaurants here but they're all spread across Terminals and you can never get to the one you actually want to. Some restaurants that are express restaurants here or heavily heavily limited in their menu and customization options. Once you cross security you can't travel between terminals for a particular restaurant, because guess what, all the good ones are in the American Airlines terminal.
There is a dearth of electrical outlets in terminal H. Shame on you Miami!response / report this review -

This is an amazing airport. It has to be one of the best in country. The terminals are beautiful! Staff is usually friendly. People complain that it is difficult to navigate, but to be honest any airport is easy to navigate if you just pay a little bit of attention to the signs or just ask people. I understand that travel can be stressful at large airports, I recommend doing research before traveling perhaps go on the airports website and take a look at the maps etc and arriving early it will be a lot easier! I hope everyone has a safe trip to wherever you are going!

Having someone in a wheelchair, is hard enough, if you do, stay away from this airport. Extra long waiting area. When you do finely get someone if you don't know Spanish it is very hard to communicate, they don't understand you and its hard to understand them. I'll be flying out of Fort Lauderdale, in the United States next time. A airport a lot more user friendly.

Horrible service. Terribly understaffed. A lot of lazy employees. Disorganized setup. I try to avoid this particular airport. Most inefficient airport I’ve ever been to. Poor labeling and no staff to answer questions. No one knows what to do and all the passengers stand around asking each other hoping a staff member will walk by. The staff are nice but the way the airport is being run is not a good business model.

Lots of walking, but if you come early you'll be fine. Staff and border control were incredibly friendly and helpful! Could improve the place by making it a little more pleasing to the eye, but if they're preserving the 80's look then its a great thing!

The bathrooms are dirty and today also without toilet paper!
Some staff are chatting between them and they don't do their job.
Most of the time the passport line is to big.
Regarding food you can find variate kind and overprice.
It's a big airport and you can use the train, that is good.
I think MIA has a potential to be one of the best airports in US but it's necessary that they train their personnel to be clean and nice with the visitors.response / report this review -

Worst airport I have ever flown into and out of. I was told by many to go in and out of Ft. Lauderdale, but I didn't listen. I will next time. After checking in at curbside (porter was AWESOME), he told us we were going out of terminal E which was a bit of a walk. No problem we were early and had plenty of time. We walked for about 20 minutes when we finally reached our security area. While walking we passed numerous food vendors, coffee shops, stores, and other places to hang out at when at the airport. We have Trusted Traveler, but in Miami that doesn't mean anything. They give you a little blue card, but they still make you take off your shoes, belts, etc. AND you go through the same line everyone else does!
We went through security and got on the shuttle to take us to the satellite terminal. WHAT A DUMP!! There are 3 food vendors: horrible food and no coffee places. If I knew where we were going, I would have hung out in the main terminal and headed to our gate 30 minutes prior. Also, come on Miami, spring for some decent seats. In this terminal they're hard plastic chairs with NO electrical outlets. If I had a delay at all (which we did in Boston but at least the chairs were comfortable), I don't know what I would have done. What was Miami thinking! Our gate was #25, in the basement of the satellite terminal that had 2 vending machines. The bathrooms had one stall each! Now I know why all of the people that work at this terminal are miserable and not very friendly. What a joke! I will NEVER fly in and out of Miami again!response / report this review -

What a joke!! A/C not working in many areas, highly overpriced food (even for an airport) not filtered water fountains and the water fountains serving hot water. Old facilities and restrooms not well maintained. I have been in developing countries airports with better facilities. The only thing: people in general is nice. If you have an option fly through Dallas.

The Miami International airport has people walkers & terminal trains and is very easy to navigate. There is a need for better signage and terminal maps to help locate all vendors. The easy access to the public transit system is a big plus. For $2.50 you can catch the 150 Bus if you are staying in the south beach area and sidestep traffic.

Didn't understand why I couldn't take my rat with me. I don't like traveling alone, and he would've fit right in the dinner tray. He's quiet like a mouse. His name is Mickey Rooney because that is his favorite actor (or so he says). Overall good experience, but I didn't understand why I couldn't take my rat, Mickey Rooney. Its fine. I stayed home.

Good good, there is a reason that I try very hard to avoid Miami at all costs. Miami international airport reminded me why.
I arrived from an international flight and filled out my customs form using mobile pass and proceeded to the interview line. Was then directed to station 8, where there was no CBP agent. After a minute or two the CBP agent showed up , asked me what the hell I was doing and told me to get behind the line. I told him an agent told me to go to stall 8, said he didn't care and then took his sweet time getting ready.
In short I had to deal with this clown who couldn't be bothered with reporting to his booth on time.

TSA spoke demeaning and condescending to all people in line we were in today. It must be how their management treats them, because the supervisor was right there. I understand they have take this position to protect passengers, however they are in the people business too.
The restaurants start closing around 7pm. The restaurant selection at least in terminals H & J was geared toward fried and fried. So if you have dietary restrictions be prepared, there is nothing can actually eat. Bring your own. And if you are strand as I am currently, go for the packaged nuts and seeds.
Overall experience at MIA is poor. It truly lacks hospitality.response / report this review
