Called to place and order, the online website says 24hours and the guy told me that I can't believe the internet. Supposedly they aren't 24 hour. They should change their online hours. Will be going to Denny's I guess .

Worth the extra walk to get breakfast here. Food is cheap, hot, and tasty. You eat at IHOP not expecting 4 star service, but good value and quality anyway. Place is smaller, and food can take a minute when they are good and busy.

I expected this to be a sit down place with a server. Instead, you walk in and order at a counter, get a number, and they bring it to you. Not complaining though, I'm poor, and now I don't have to leave a tip. Other than that, the staff was very happy and smiley, and was an overall decent experience!

First impression says it all! We did read the part of the sign that said Express as we've never heard of an IHOP Express. We were looking forward to a nice breakfast in San Diego & our first choice wasn't IHOP, it was a cafe around the corner however with 3 hungry kids & a 45 minute wait to be seated for Richards Pancakes we had to go somewhere else.

When you enter you're told you need to wait to find a table (yourself) then order at the counter. Obviously some people know this so even though we were waiting, people who walked in after us rushed to the free table. Also you don't need to wait for a seat to order as you are given a number once you order so really don't need to wait for a table & then wait for food.

If you decide to give it a try.
Just order, get your number, wait for a table & your food will seem like it was really quick!

I ordered the kids usual Rooty Jr. & was surprised to learn that you have to ask for the strawberry topping when you place your order generally it just comes with it! The food was EXTRA greasy, my kids would eat their eggs because of that. My husband & self didn't actually order anything but coffee & the icing on the cake for me was drinking my coffee out of a to-go cup! No way!! It really felt like I was at McDonalds! It's also extra noises because it's such a small environment & has an open kitchen.

I wouldn't return & I wouldn't recommend!

Considering the ability of fast food sit down after midnight in Down Town San Diego and not waiting to place my order, is a big plus. The staff made some mistakes but were friendly and considerate. Also this is the first IHop that I did not have to drscribe what basted eggs are.
Fast Food! It was nice to be brought my food, and not due to a mistake.
By the way, the place is clean!

Not sure why everyone is giving this IHOP Express such a bad rap. It's an order first and sit down to eat establishment (just like most fast food joints) and that was fine by us.
Food was just what we expected. Consistent with any other IHOP we've visited.
Stopped in twice this week and found the service to be excellent. Very attentive staff and managers that checked on how things were with our meals.
Go in knowing what to expect and you should be happy with the results.
