Great day. On a very busy day they accommodated us with our dog on their pet friendly patio, great service from waiter Max and hostess Emily! Cheers to a great crew!

Amazing bread and fresh food. Love their meats. The fish and chips had an overwhelming amount of breading, but otherwise I have liked everything I've eaten there. Snag a seat at the bar and chat up the bartenders if it's really crowded. Worth the drive out from DC!

    HEAVENLY HUNTER'S HEAD TAVERN
We arrived about 6ish on Sunday evening to this authentic British tavern translated into the western Virginia countryside and had no wait. Typical of this style pub, ordering is done at a window next to a well stocked bar. Next we were seated outside in a beautiful, pet friendly, shaded garden and were served bread & butter while waiting for our meal. It was served promptly by friendly staff. I had the best shepherd pie in years, followed by an AMAZING sticky toffee pudding. Can't wait to come back to this little slice of Britain in Virginia.

Excellent little pub, great food. This reminds me of growing up in England. First place I have been in the U.S. that truly captures that English Pub feel along with what I would consider traditional pub fair. The food and drinks were excellent and so was the atmosphere.

We always enjoy a good meal at Hunters Head (especially the mac & cheese). And whether we sit by the fire in winter or out on the pet friendly patio during warm months, the setting is perfect.

Been here a few times and had better food and better service in past visits. 3 salad plate is skimpy and way overpriced, and the avocado listed as the second ingredient in one of the salads was completely absent. I would have asked about it, but no one came back to our table until it was time for the check. Table next to us came in after us and got bread. We had to stop a waiter and ask for it. Wife's chicken pot pie was good. Place was very busy, with a horse event happening in town; so likely didn't see it at its best. But, this time around, pretty underwhelming.

Historical. Dates back to the 1700s. Original fireplaces and mantels. Fabulous food selections. Reservations required unless dining with pets in heated tent.

Ordering was confusing. My Fish and chips turned out to be chewy fish sticks and overly seasoned boardwalk style fries and not the filet of cod and chunky chips I expected. My date had the Shepherds pie which turned out to be overcooked beef, not lamb, with frozen peas and canned corn and a dollop of runny potatoes all in some runny gravy substance. As a British citizen looking for proper pub grub I was horrified at how inedible the meal was. neither of us finished our meal. No wonder Americans think British cuisine is bad. If this establishment intends to sell itself as "an authentic pub" they need to have a long hard look at an actual British pub and actual pub food. I really expected so much more and came away very disappointed in the quality of the food. It was like some theme park idea of what a pub is. I must say the staff were obviously overworked but continued to be very attentive so a big pat on the back to them.

Great food and service. Wife and I been back several times. We even traveled from Manassas just for coffee and dessert. Never a complaint. Their bread is freshly made and is out of this world. Can't recommend one particular menu item because everything is good.
