I'm a big fan of Housing Works and stop by whenever I'm in the neighborhood to see what new items they've acquired. There are several locations in the city. It's a good spot for seeking out used books. I also like to view their furniture, glassware, and auction windows. Also a good place to donate most items (they'll provide the tax deduction form). All for a good cause.
Its one of my favorite housing works. As this is housing works flagship store there is a lot of turn over of product so you need to frequent it to find what your looking for. They do get a lot of interesting pieces at this store. If you see something you want pick it up don't leave it and circle back it may not be there by the end of your visit.

This is a thrift shop for rich people (sort of). It all depends on what you consider cheap, the quality of the clothing was excellent and most of it was either well-known, high-end brands or simply top-quality picks but I don't think I saw anything cheaper than 15 bucks.
Consider this: take a look around you when you're at any Salvation Army and look around when you're in there, that's prob a stylist over there, but you might just find a gem
Always a great find every time I go there. Good staff and very good prices.
Haven't checked out the garment side .but have been a chronic shopper on the furniture, paintings and decorative home side for over 15 years.
Always something interesting here. If you can catch any of the sales on items you're interested in or the sale they have twice a year on furniture, you could find a gold mine. Get there early and enjoy
They overcharge for 2nd hand items. They split up sets and sell them at outrageous prices (i.e. Dollar Tree salt and pepper shakers, $4 each). Walk 2 blocks up and 3 over to the Salvation army store on W21st and 8th ave, at least you can barter deals there.
Great place to visit and browse around in. It has a large layout span with very high ceilings. Perfect coloring and lighting to beckon you in - light, bright, but yet warm at the same time. The selection of clothes is great. I usually go for the slacks because they are high end designers - barely if ever worn, but for under $15.00. If you are really wanting to feel good and ultra save..certain days they seem to have some slacks marked down to under $8.00! Beautiful shoe collection - especially if you love heels and boots. The furniture seems top notch with often modern and vintage quality, but I don't have a car so I don't bother peaking too much. From what I can tell the men clothes look great too! :)
So many different treasures you could unearth! The staff on the other hand were quite awful.
Nice place to get good stuff at a low price, mens and womens.
Not what you'd expect from a thrift shop. They make sure all the clothes are of higher quality than your normal thrift store

Love walking in here. Just wish that I could fit all the things that they have in a suitcase to take home.
Such a great curated thrift shop. And you're helping a great cause.
