The Hotel Julien has had some excellent upgrades since my last visit. We had a large company function and the staff were always on top of things. Only reason they did not receive a 5 star is that there is more maintenance that could be completed.

Lived in Dubuque my whole life and never been there before. Beautiful hotel inside. Gave that feeling like you were in another period. Room was good size, beds were sufficient. Bathroom was clean and elegant. Pool was very nice. Hottub wasn't too hot. Carpet leading to the pool was bunched up and needed to be tightened. Definitely would visit again.

Beautiful! Lovely, clean, and quiet place. You can reflect, unwind, and relax with family here. Central, so you can walk to the local shops and attractions, or stay in and enjoy the onsite amenities. The bedtime snack package was a fun addition to our recent stay. Great rooms, at incredibly low rates!

Excellent rooms! One of the "oldest historic" hotels in Dubuque. I heard Al Capone use to stay there while running his bootleg underground casinos in East Dubuque! Enjoy the history!

My wife and I stayed in executive double queen room. It was very clean, comfortable and welcoming. The beds we're very comfortable and the pool area is very nice. Caroline's is an excellent restaurant too! We were overall very happy with our stay.

It's a nice old hotel. It was renovated somewhere around 2005 I think. Nice rooms, frendly staff about what you'd expect.

Lovely old restored hotel. Some of the room's walls are a little thin, as you can hear people talking clearly in other rooms while in your own room. Great ambiance, however. We will most likely request a room on the East side of the Hotel, as the street can get loud on the weekends. Cute Riverboat lounge, friendly staff. We will be back with the above requests. Dubuque is a gem that I really never knew about.

Had an outstanding stay here. Wanted a romantic overnight getaway for my wife and I so we tried downtown Dubuque and weren't disappointed. Food, drinks, coffee, entertainment and a lively scene in a historic setting, Dubuque has it all and the Hotel Julien was the perfect place to stay for such a getaway. Can't wait to go back.

I enjoy staying here. There are a surplus of amenities for travelers; a good bar, competent restaurant, accessible spa. Rooms are clean and very well kept, with lavish square footage and many idiosyncratic little touches. Great views of the city and within walking distance of some really excellent bars, restaurants, and eateries. Highly accessible (two turns off the freeway and you've arrived). I always look forward to staying here.

We had a great room. The place was clean and comfortable. The front desk personnel we're friendly and knowledgeable. The interior is beautiful and the pool was very comfortable. Overall, an outstanding hotel for the cost.

Very pleasant staff. Nice and comfy rooms. Central to everything and great access to Galena. Most places within Dubuque are walkable. And the views are amazing

Booked early. Paid WAY more than price listed today. Looks nice, but room was small with no microwave, hair dryer, or free breakfast. Ate dinner at a bar and breakfast at Dottie's Cafe (both meals were excellent). Third floor facing street was very loud all night with trucks, motorcycles, and drunks outside. Spa massage was great. Bed looks more comfortable than it was. Young blonde man at desk was fantastic but woman on 7/1/17, while not rude, was not friendly, and I don't think she wanted to be there.

I would highly recommend staying here for a visit. But there is no way I would recommend anyone having a wedding there with the poor coordination service we received. The king whirl pool Suite was absolutely wonderful, very spacious room, very nice bathroom and a whirlpool tub. Caroline's is wonderful for a dinner or lunch. They have many great options. All perfectly cooked. The ballroom was absolutely gorgeous for our wedding. But the staff often had questions for us, the bridal party, and should have been figuring it out on their own, they're the ones who always do weddings.

Great hotel. Very impressed. Spacious room. Very impressed with gym and pool in the basement. Gym is one of best I've seen in a hotel in a long time. Good bar attached to hotel. Only downside may be breakfast, not sure what was available, certainly nothing included with stay.
