very yummy, a dizzying variety of pies and also quiche! I sometimes get paralyzed by all the choices. They recently expanded, we even found seating on a Saturday morning.
"Save your fork, there's pie!"
With this tagline the whole feeling of Hoosier Mama comes to life. Stepping into the store is like steppnig into your mom or grandmothers idealic kitchen. All the pies (savory and sweet) as well as a small assortment of other backed goods (turnovers, scones and such) are baked in house with high quality ingredients and seasonings.
Last visit I had delicious local coffee with a slice of deep chocolate pie balanced by a sky high mound of whipped cream.
You can't go wrong with any of the pies. If you want to order for a holiday make sure you do so a few MONTHS in advance or go the day before about 30 minutes before they open to get in line to "day of" available items.
This place is why fat kids get fatter. Delicious pies with buttery flaky crust. Quiche rich with eggy cheesy goodness. And now pastries and tasty coffee? If you like pie of any kind, get thee to Hoosier Mama and order up a pie flight (yes, that's a thing) or two.
The best chocolate cream AKA French silk pie ever. Priced accordingly. Chicken pot pie phenomenal as well.
Best French silk pie I have had in Chicago. Would definitely go again, as it's located to one of my favorite event spaces, The Annex.
Every pie I've tried was amazing. The service could be a bit better, but I'm chalking that up to how busy they are.
Best pie in Chicago, sells by the slice or pie, both savory and sweet variaties. Try out any seasonal pie or any of the sour cream pies.. fantastic.
Going to say it right now. Best pie I have ever had. Make sure you get here and visit. Coconut cream pie and vanilla custard with blackberry sage coulis were outrageous.
I've only had pies here and every single one has been good. I typically get fruit based pies, sugar cream, or anything with banana. Actually I also get the Dutch sour cream as well. Just go!
Me and some friends went there for an experiment two years ago. It was AMAZING. I had the chocolate cream pie, which had now become my favorite. We still like going there to this day!
Simply the best, most creative, and reliably high-quality sweet and savory pies in Chicago. Emphasis on locally-sourced, seasonally available ingredients as appropriate.
We had a slice of key lime, which was very, very good. Great custard, good crust, nicely cut and packaged. But it was $6 for 1/6th of a pie. I can't condone that. #wrong
Heard this place was good so I decided to try it out and I saw online that they offered key lime pie as well. The storefront is small and cozy, but sufficient for their needs. I visited on a Saturday, but they didn't have key lime available, so I put one on order to pick up the on Tuesday (takes 2 days to procure and they are closed on Monday). I arrived Tuesday morning to learn they did not have my pie but they immediately offered a free pie to me of my choosing. I went with their signature sugar cream and it was the most amazing pie I've had in a long time. It felt like a hybrid of flan and vanilla ice cream, incredibly delicious.
I will definitely come back again and hope I can get some key lime and another sugar cream haha. I greatly appreciate the staff for being accommodating.
