Great place! The wait was pretty long (we went during a peak time) but it was cozy inside and the host offered to get us drinks while we waited. He also gave us free cookies because my husband is a veteran. So kind. The food was fantastic. We learned before our food came that the chickens were ethically raised, fed, and killed. This made the price so much more worth it to me; I will gladly pay more for ethical food. The service was very friendly and the noise level wasn't too loud. Bathrooms were clean. We are coming back.

I was visiting from AZ and my friend suggested we try this place based on suggestions he received. I ordered the Honey Butter Fried Chicken sandwich and the mac-and-cheese.

The friend chicken was cooked perfectly. It was tender, but crunchy. The honey butter was melted over the chicken and it was just sweet enough that it wasn't overbearing.

The mac-and-cheese was delicious as well. The pasta was perfect and there was plenty of cheese. The breadcrumbs on top were good, but I wouldn't have minded if they weren't there as well.

The staff was extremely friendly and the wait time for food was very reasonable.

I wish I lived in Chicago so I could go there all the time, but instead I'll recommend it to everyone I hear heading out there.

So we took advantage of the unseasonably warm fall we are having in Chicago to check out this favorite of everyone.

First off the staff are really nice and fun. We had a great conversation at the register which could just be a tactic to get us to spend more but hey it worked and I am happy. They don't take tips because they build it into the menu and at first I thought, this isn't Europe don't do that but then I realized, I could get used to this.

Food:

On Wednesdays, they offer 10 wings for $10 so I picked the wings in a honey buffalo flavor and a chicken thigh served with honey butter (hence the name) and corn muffins. To wash it down with a Sara's Southern Slam with rum and peach. The wings were good, a little too much sauce but overall tasty! The chicken is seasoned perfectly and comes out nice and warm. Unlike some other places in the city that sell chicken it wasn't a 40-minute wait, it moved fairly quickly. I also got the mashed potatoes and just like everything else was great.

Overall:

Solid restaurant, great staff, and great food. This place is a bit on the more expensive than what you expect to pay but you are getting Antibiotic-free, cage-free, humanely-raised chicken and a great customer service.

Man just really good. You can get the honey butter chicken sandwich and a buffalo Mac and get respectable portions without breaking the bank. The vibe is fun and casual (can get packed for lunch so don't expect much seating then. Great for a lunch date with the girl. Fun music. Good clean style. And the flavor approach is different enough to keep this in the fried chicken rotation. Plus love for an alum

Don't know what else to say. Great food, short wait (weekend), limited seating inside, large patio on outside that sits empty as the cold else in. Got the 4 piece chicken (with honey butter of course) with cornbread muffins with a side of smashed potatoes and gravy and creamed corn. Chicken was amazing, fried to dark brown and I added a dollop of honey butter and some of the house hot sauce. I was surprised since all was boneless except for the drumstick. The cornbread was perfect (also with the honey butter) with the bottom half being crunchy and the top being soft. The entire thing was moist and delicious. Sides were good too. Sweet tea complimented the entire meal.
If you're hungover or just want a delicious bloody Mary, they have a great one here garnished with the usual lemon/lime and celery stick but with a freshly fried chicken wing (was still warm)! The mix is spicy and full of horseradish. A must get even if a bit pricey for the size ($10).

Some of the best fried chicken I've had. Great outdoor seating. A little expensive and worth it. Inside is small so in winter I don't know how nice it'd be. In summer it's perfect

Delicious food but smallish portions considering how much it cost. The food came out extremely quickly and I thought it was so cute how little beehive patterns were all over the food and decorations! However, like other reviewers said, I cannot recommend the mac and cheese. It reminded me of boxed mac and cheese and just felt like a weaker item on their menu. The corn however, was amazing.

Service was nice and the space was clean. If you can, I highly recommend sitting on the patio all the way in the back!

Don't be intimidated by the line (it's probably out the door). It moves quickly and the food is worth it! I've been in for brunch and dinner, loved every bite. Best thing is to do as they say and "put the butter on the bird". Huge patio out back!

Went today for the first time and it was truly AMAZING!!! I personally had the buffalo mac and cheese and while it was tasty I can't say I'd order it again. My husband had the bone in chicken with coleslaw and that was REALLY GOOD!!! Besides the good food though the service was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! My MIL told them it was my husband's birthday and they surprised him with their dump cake with homemade vanilla bean whipped cream and A CANDLE! My FIL had their firecracker wings and while he did not find them to be to spicy he really enjoyed the sauce. When I asked if they bottled and sold the sauce they said no but yet surprised us with a cup of sauce to go. To thank them for their AMAZING service we tried to tip them and they very politely declined and said tips are accounted for in their prices so yes, while they are a bit pricey, they deserve every penny!!! Can't wait to go back!!!

Absolutely love Honey Butter! This may be one of my favorite fried chicken joints.
What's not to like-fried chicken, corn muffins, corn, potatoes, Mac n cheese, flavorful sodas and lemonade, and the honey butter! The chicken is delicious with the butter spread on the skin, and it still has a nice crisp as the butter melts. It's hard to take focus away from the chicken, but the corn and Mac n cheese side dish are a great addition to the meal. There is a lot of flavor going on here and I suggest giving one of their drinks a try (the non alcoholic ones are free refills!). The service has always been friendly and helpful. We sat inside this recent trip but the outside area looks like a nice area to sit at too.
If you're around this part of Chicago, you have to check out this place!

A new favorite of mine for sure. The fried chicken was really good and of course that butter! The sides were also great with their pickle of the day and roasted garlic grits, I'm surprised I made it home.

There's another allure to the place that was even greater: they've adopted the no tip, pay your people model! Needless to say, the staff seemed like they were invested in what they do. First class all around!

The environment plays a great mix of old school funk and rb, but they keep it subtle. Interestingly, you can't sit until you get your order placed which seems weird with how long their line gets but they move quick.

This was amazing! I've passed it many times and not sure why it took so long to come in. Definitely planning on coming back. The HBF sandwich was great, but I have to try some of their other choices.

So I was taking my order and grabbing my fork and I accidentally dropped another fork so of course like any being of rationality I was responsible for picking up the fork witch I did, but when bending down to pick it up my other fork that was in the hand I was reaching down with scrapped the floor. But yeah the restaurant is great. But f**k VICE because it's packed constantly

Had heard a lot about Honey Butter Fried Chicken and finally got up the energy to wait in line on a Saturday afternoon. The line moved quick, and seats opened up pretty quick too.

The chicken is nice and crispy, as you would expect, but outside of being fried chicken, it isn't any thing special..until you start adding the Honey Butter. This is the key to unlocking the flavor. You instantly add a sweet/salty umami to that crispy, battered chicken. It's a winning combination.

The little cornbread biscuits are a treat - they are simply so small, it's more of a treat than a side.

Their home made honey butter will turn any sandwich into a sandwich god. It makes the Chic-Fil-A sauce that I love seem like it's its younger sibling. It is a force to be reckoned with. Absolutely great food. They have very nice seating in their well lit spacious outdoor patio. Definitely a must visit on a nice night where you can enjoy the patio.
