My family has had our Christmas celebration at Hollyhock for many years. We did that again last night. The chicken and shrimp tasted great, however, it was obvious that portion control to increase profits has taken over at Hollyhock. The once quick refills of chicken is no more. The restaurant was very busy and our party of 10 had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation and then a bit longer after that. We were seated at a table that would comfortably accommodate 8 so it was a bit cramped. Additionally, the chairs were uncomfortable and probably came from card tables. I was not aware that there had been a change in ownership until I arrived and we were handed menus. While, I appreciate that Hollyhock is expanding menu choices I am saddened that they are not as accommodating or attentive as they once were. Don’t expect the plentiful refills of chicken that were offered in the past. Our refill consisted of 3 pieces and two of us only had 1 piece of chicken total. I must say that they did buy our first round of beverages for the long wait. This was done without complaints from us. Overall, while the food was good the overall experience was not what it once was which makes me sad. For the first time we discussed other options for next year.

Superb Food, Beautiful Setting, Exceptional Service. Chicken was great, juicy tender and hot. Sides were generous and fresh. Can't wait to go again and taste other menu offerings

Fantastic food, really good service. No instant mashed anything, no indigestion aftermath, good fresh coffee and iced tea. Box up your leftovers and enjoy! Worth a trip, not inexpensive but not HYPE , just really good. Alcoholic beverages are additional. Clean, well lighted place.Family friendly.Kids menu. Call for group reservations.

This place is great! Kind of seems a little dated but that is part of its charm. We held our wedding rehearsal dinner here and our wait staff was fantastic! They were very attentive and kept bringing us out fresh food. The food is delicious! And having it served family style is part of the charm.

I love this place and usually it is very good. I celebrated my birthday there and had a great meal. But I do think a few things could be improved. The last time we were there the new fish meal was not good. It was small piece and not the best tasting. The sides are all good and there is now more of a variety which is nice. I do not eat the fried chicken but most people seem to really like it. The service is usually very good. The chairs are not the most comfortable but okay. Overall it is such a nice experience!

I went to this restaurant the other day to pick up a UberEats order. The service was horrible. I stood there for a good 15 minutes before I finally said something to management about not being helped. The red head that works the register got an attitude and told me it was because she was working on the order. How was I suppose to know? She never said ANYTHING to me! As her and I proceed to have words, the two managers decide to walk away, instead of correct the situation. One waitress did apologize, stating she thought I had been helped. Awful experience and I'll never pick up another customers order from this place again!

We went for the first time to celebrate my in-laws' anniversary (they are from Michigan). Everyone loved the food. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection, green beans tasty, mashed potatoes and gravy were very good, and the biscuits outstanding. Just good home-cooking!!

This was our first time here and it definitely won't be our last. They are known for their family style meals. My wife and i both ordered the chicken dinner and it was amazing. It came with salad, biscuits, beets, cottage cheese, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, and ice cream for dessert. It's all included in the price. Even more impressive was how friendly all the staff was. Our server was one of the best I've seen at any restaurant. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to experience all the quality food we know and love without having to make it yourself!!

I won't be returning. It took forever to get food. And when we did mine was cold, my hubands like warm. My daughter got chicken which was the only thing that was hot. The corn was cold. The green beans and potatoes like warm. Dessert the pie was still doughy. It was a terrible experience.

The WORST fried chicken I've ever had. It was fried to perfection. It was golden brown when it came to the table and when you pull it apart it is very juicy however there are no seasonings in this chicken at all!!! The customers were 95% elderly which could explain why they don't add flavor but I wanted to have an engagement dinner there. For the price it just isn't worth it. But if you find yourself there order the Mac and cheese, it's a bit under cooked but it's yummy!

Wonderful experience. Staff was friendly. Server (Damon) was top notch. Food was excellent. Seated right away, even though it was very crowded. We will return to try other items on the menu.

New owner and management is NOTHING like the past. Food has become average at best and customer service is NOT their priority. We have used this family owned business for years for catering and family dinner nights. NO MORE- so sad to see a staple end this way.
Might as well hit a KFC on the way home!!

Just had THE best 75th birthday party at Hollyhock Hill. At 75 you remember what REAL food and REAL home cooking tastes like! So if you are younger than that then you need to do what our whole family did and have family style dining at this fabulous place. The atmosphere and ambiance is another good reason for coming here. Everyone and everything is top of the line and places like this are fast disappearing, so do yourself a favor and set up a meal your family will thank you for and you won't have to do the work for.

We thought wed go to the Early Bird Special Weds., 4/5. Arrived at 4:05. Stood in Lobby for approx. 10 minutes with no acknowledgement. I called their number which rolled to voicemail, so called carryout number which they answered. Now, there are 2 more people in lobby waiting. Told host 4 people were waiting to be seated. He seemed unconcerned and said ok. When server came out he asked if we had reservations, no I replied. The other two did, so he seated them first even though we had been there 10 minutes prior. He said we could sit anywhere we wanted, since there were only the 4 of us in the entire restaurant. We were treated like step-children. The new decor is drab at best. Gunmetal gray, white, no contrast COLOR. The chicken was good. The potatoes, corn, gravy were bland. Canned, hard biscuits accompanied the meal. We almost got a scoop of ice cream for dessert.
So disappointed, this used to be a favorite!!! Good Bye old friend.

After many great meals at this place -- I can say that the service has gone way down hill. Two different steaks that were ordered medium well came out medium rare. It took thirty minutes to cook them a bit more.

It was so hot in the dining room we were all sweating profusely.

Feels like the wait staff needs to be trained in fine dining.
