I expect a bit better from Hilton The room was alright. Needs some cosmetic improvements. Location is greatBiggest complaint is the strike going on directly in front of the building. Apparently a new owner has taken over and is not providing employees with benefits you would expect from any decent job. The picketing was loud and rather obnoxious during my stay, but if my retirement plan or vacation days were taken away, I would protest too. I hope this conflict is resolved soon.

The ambience was nice, but once in the room the paint was peeling and the maintenance and repair was done poorly. At times there was a moldy smell in the elevator waiting area on my floor. Ate at the restaurant and the food was good and sort of made up for the condition of the room. It didn't help that there were union picket lines at the entrance. All in all an OK stay.

This place was maybe "high-end" when it was fresh, but is definitely stale now. I recently stayed for work and, like other recent reviews, also was hollered at by picketers as I entered and exited. That was uncomfortable, but my low rating is due to a whole lot of little things that added up into an overall negative impression. Shampoo and conditioner were clearly used and only half full. Room was too warm and AC only blew warm air, while colleagues in other rooms had the opposite problem and were too cold. When I called to complain, the woman who answered was in the middle of yelling at someone, possibly a child. She said she'd send an engineer and I waited 45 minutes before calling back to cancel because I just wanted to go to bed. On day two, I returned to find that I was not provided with fresh towels or soaps. Plaster ceiling was cracked and crumbling. Carpet in the hall was stained. Furniture was getting worn. I'm sure t was all very nice when new (and probably not too long ago), but it's time to renovate again if they want to bill themselves as high-end. Did not match my impression of Hilton hotels overall.

On the plus side, my bed was clean and comfortable and the staff I interacted with in person were professional.

This place is having some real issues because the staff are experiencing a labor dispute with the owner and they have voted not to strike however they are picketing out front of the building and they pick it the whole day long and they Hoot and Holler. We had to pass a picket line to get in and then the sessions we were there to attend for work we're hard to hear because of all the yelling right outside the windows. I looked outside the window of my room to check out the view and one of the people picketing started waving their arms at me. While I'm sympathetic to their cause, I had to be there for work and had no choice of the hotel where the Conference was held. I had carpooled and my room had already been paid for so I couldn't go somewhere else and they really made the conference memorable in a bad way. Otherwise, it's not a bad place but does need to improve in some areas. Some of my fellow conference coworkers had only one towel in their room when two people were staying, and one person had a dirty towel that had stains and hair in it. I think, that because of the people who are choosing to be out on the picket line instead of working that we had the B-Team employees probably including a lot of Temps. The food at this place was very good for hotel food but the one thing that bothered me, as a tea drinker, that the hot water containers had coffee grounds come out of them as if they had dumped out old coffee and fill it with hot water without even washing it. It's a small thing yet it's not really, as the hot beverage that we choose to drink to wake us up in the morning or the afternoon or the evening is a huge part of one's normal comfort routine and really that's what anyone's looking for when they're staying in a hotel and not at their own home.

I would NEVER stay here again. After checking in heading to my room and going to bed, I was awoken at 5:30 am by the Albany Police Department knocking on my door. They stated that I was committing credit card fraud. After some discussion it became clear that I was not in fact committing credit card fraud and by ID was verified. They apologized and left rather confused.

The next morning as I was checking out I asked a member of the staff about the event and tried to ensure that I had the correct billing information on file. His response: "Oh yea, I heard about that (chuckle)", and yes the correct credit card is on the room.

After some discussions with management via email it became clear that the staff had entered the incorrect rewards number and that a completely different individual was registered, received an email, and called the police in response.

As of this moment, management said there are several people with your name, so staff at the hotel entered the wrong information. But that shouldn't really have mattered since i booked online and entered by rewards number there, but okay; great "hospitality management"

In summation if you have an early morning meeting and want to be awoken by 4 uniformed police officers because of staff error, and offered no redress this is the spot.

    It terms of the room:
Negatives:cup stains on countless surfaces, broken door to the cabinet where the fridge was located, tiny bathroom, used mini shampoo bottles in the bathroom draws, hotel window that open all the way (like 4 ft wide) with no screen and a union protest outside complete with megaphones.
Positives: Smart TV where you could use your netflix account, and actual functional iron.

Awesome food and staff was so friendly. Near to many downtown exhibits and historic locations. This hotel can handle very large groups with ease. The indoor swimming and hot tub were easy to locate and the rooms and room service excellent.

Enjoyed our stay here. Room was great, got upgraded to a suite. Maid never cleaned the glasses from the bar area. Not sure why. Breakfast left something to be desired. Desk staff were wonderful, nice, and accommodating all weekend. Views are great and so is location.

The Hilton Albany was conveniently located in downtown, near some of the cities beautiful historic buildings and a stretch of nice restaurants/bars. The room was clean, but not perfect. There were some hairs and coffee rings left on the bed stand. I also was not a fan of having to pay for parking in the attached garage while staying over. Luckily I found a nice spot on the street across from the hotel. I won't mind staying over again while on business.

Staff very pleasant and helpful. Rooms are nice, clean and comfortable, great beds. Towels are lacking, just 2 in the room, had to call for extra each day. AC in our room didn't seem to work very well but it wasn't uncomfortable. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was SLOW and EXPENSIVE To the tune of $50 for 3 people. Room rate was reasonable for the location though so that's a big plus.

I attended the Region 15 Sweet Adeline Contest and Convention. While there were apparently some issues with the choruses being split up and non chorus members being put on the same floor as the chorus, my own experience was good. I'd like to thank the maintenance men who helped my friend and I get down to the parking garage when one elevator was stuck and the rest were filled with sweet Adelines trying to get to dinner.

It's very apparent when people are leaving and/ or entering a room. Whether down the hall or directly adjacent, door slamming travels in echoes. My first night staying there during a weekend-long conference, someone, NOT staff was able to enter my room. From then on, I made sure the safety latch was on whenever I was alone in the room. Good thing, because it prevented SIX other incidents where other people used a keycard, got the door open but not weren't able to enter; due to safety latch. Mind you, I had Do Not Disturb hung outside, and at 6:13am, someone STILL tried to enter the room TWICE within 7min.

The staff has been nice and has listened patiently to my complaints and done their best to help me. but the building is horribly old. They've put some new furniture in it and slapped down some new tile, but the plumbing and heating systems are using ancient technology. On the 14th floor there was no hot water to shower at 7 am. I was staying here with multiple colleagues and no one had hot water in the morning except for the women on the 3rd floor. So, I moved down to a room with no view, but hot water. (If you have to stay here stay low.)

The heating system has a thermostat where you pick the temperature, but that is just a joke. It is a two pipe system and either the fan is bringing in hot air or its off and its not. When I woke up this morning my room was 80 degrees. The air is currently off as its March.

My last complain is that the amount of ambient noise is crazy. The fridge is super loud. Even with your heating system off there is still a fan running somewhere.

Also, some of the higher starred reviews on here have got to be fake. One says that the gym is new and nicely updated. No. not at all. I worked out on an Elliptical that was missing one of its handles yesterday. You just had to hand on to the bare bar. Not the end of the world. but not nicely updated.

This place does not live up to the standards of the Hilton brand.

Checking in at 5:30pm, my room was not ready (check-in is at 4:00pm). I waited for the room to be ready, approximately 10 minute wait. When I went up to the room, the room was dirty - the bed wasn't made, sheets/bedding was dirty and pillows were on the floor - just unsatisfying for the amount of money I paid for an executive king room. I returned to the front desk in which they questioned my honesty of the room being clean and then switched me to a different room - something that was a complete downgrade from what I had booked. The staff was very unprofessional - they actually sent housekeeping to the room while I was moving my stuff to "clean" it for me, in which she proceeded to think that putting pillowcases on the pillows would calm my need for the room to be "clean"- but I had already switched rooms. The staff didn't care that I was unsatisfied and rather shrugged it off after giving me the wrong keys and thinking that a breakfast voucher would fix everything. The location is great however I would rather walk a mile or further to have a clean bed than walk 0.2 miles and stay at this hotel ever again. I would expect my experience from a Super 8 Motel not a Hilton. Very dissatisfied and will never recommend or stay here again.

Beyond anything we could imagine.. bad

After 30 years of travel.. finally such a bad experience.. . it is time to leave this nightmare Truly unbelievable.. a room that is 80 degrees.. no way to cool it off. A suite.. literally without windows.. beyond comprehension a management team that could care less. If you are used to 3 star plus.. PLEASE dont say here you be better sleeping in your car. We dropped too much $$$ and we are sleeping in our car.. no kidding.. so we can get some sleep.. all we hear, once you get beyond the heat.. is the elevators.. a true rip off. I am embarrassed to say what we paid. Marriott.. you have nothing to worry about.. these guys are working to keep you at the top.
