One of my favorite places in my neighborhood. People over there is so nice, plus all their food and ice cream are great. Plus, it is a historic place, serving the area for over hundred years. If you are in the neighborhood, don't miss this place.

Hildebrandt's is a classic, no frills establishment. What they do, they do well and if you go in expecting to order "espresso" and be treated like you're at a Michelin star restaurant, you're going to be disappointed (like some other reviewers). You're not walking in to a maitre d' and a red carpet and if you're going there after seeing it on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, shame on you for expecting that.
The fare is classic american diner food and it's delicious. The ice cream and all desserts are incredible and authentic.
I love this place, I hadn't been there in years, but went back a couple weeks ago. They still have a ton of business and once you've been there, you definitely understand why.
I'm giving it 4-stars rather than 5 because the place could use some updates to neaten it up a bit. They can make small changes to make it cleaner and more inviting without changing anything about the classic design and charm.response / report this review -

We had ice cream the old fashioned waySit at an ice cream bar and order a 1 sundae and 1 banana split. Ice cream is home made and pretty good, Creamy whip cream, Thick hot fudge. This place must have been built in the 1950s as there is an old fashioned soda fountain machinethe bar itself looks from that era as well as the tiles on the floor and it feels like alil time capsule in there. They also have stuffed toys that you can buy and 2 cute window displays. I was told the place hasn't changed by a man sitting at the bar as well. He went there as a child. It's been around for decades, good reputation, very well maintained, clean & decent prices. When we went there were people who were regulars talking to the barkeeper other than that it wasnt "roudy" at all. Peaceful actually. They serve food as well although we just came to have an ice cream. There are little to no ice creams parlors around anymore And I'm not OLD.. I'm 43yrs.. But I remember going to an ice parlor in my late teens! Miss having that around and these fast ice cream places don't count..does not feel like a parlor. All in All its a cute nostalgic restuarant/ice cream parlornothing flashy.but quaint. Classic home-style food. Got a cheese burger that was cooked perfectly medium severed with some home made fries and round it all out with a fantastic vanilla milkshake. Service was prompt and friendly. I'll definitely be back.

One of the very best ice cream places I have ever been to. Their food is really good too. I have been going there for over 20 years. I have moved since then but every time I go back to visit family we always make a stop to Hilderbrandts.

Old fashioned ice cream in an old fashioned environment. Regular seating for a family and counter seating for one or more. Food is fresh and delicious.

Well, if you can catch them wile they're open, they've been on Food Network's "Diner's drive-ins and dives"! Homemade ice cream and vintage 50's style soda shop atmosphere! Great quality, home-style selection.
