Nice historic inn in the heart of town and close to attractions. The building is well preserved and is a pleasure to look at. A fine example of architecture of times past.

Nice, great location for walking, very nice staff, horrible lighting in room. I realize it was renovated to be like the original structure.but some moderation of bulb wattage is needed.

We just returned home after 4 days at the Highlands Inn and absolutely loved it. It's OLD so if you're expecting all the "modern up to date furniture and decor" don't go, but if you love nostalgia this is a fun place to stay. The staff was absolutely wonderful and did EVERYTHING they could to make sure we were comfortable while there. They served complimentary breakfast each morning but you could also order from their menu. I'm really not sure why they just have 3 stars because most of the reviews are really good. I was a little worried about staying there because of the rating but they will be our place of choice in the future. Highlands is so much fun, activities going on in the town square all the time and lots of places to shop along with the most amazing restaurants we've ever been too, not to mention our hometown had 100 degree temps while the highs were in the mid 70's in Highlands and cool enough in the evenings for a sweater! Thank you Caryl for being such a wonderful hostess, they are fortunate to have you in their employ! Hope to see you again soon! Donna & Jim Nunamaker, Columbia, SC

Wifi didnt work. TV phone and beds on par with 2/3 star hotel at best. Ironing board looked like someone had just eaten on it. Can't believe the pricing in this towncertainly not worth it.

Located right off of Main Street with plenty of little shops and restaurants. Great location, quiet place to stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights and the location is great for walking to the restaurants and shops but did not enjoy taking cold showers. When I called to ask about not having any hot water, I was told that it is an old hotel and there must have been a lot of people taking showers at the same and used up all the hot water and that I would have to wait until it warmed up again. We did not have time to wait for the water to warm up, so we took cold showers. On a positive side, we did enjoy having access to the balcony and our bed was comfortable.

I paid for 3 days at the highlands inn June 2013 in order to attend a wedding. When we reported no hot water for a shower, the answer was "well we have 3 weddings in town". Later we reported the TV not working. They offered to move us to another hotel (10:00 pm at night). I politely ask for a reduction in the price since the room was not up to any hotel standard. The Manager said he was not authorized. I called the owner and left a voice mail with no response. I have tried sending an email, but their mail box is full. At this point, I have not heard from anyone at the Inn and the charge of over $500 remains on my card. DO NOT STAY AT THIS INN. They assume you are just a tourist and will not return. However, we visit Highlands often and have friends who live there.

My brother got married at The Farm and I stayed at the Highlands Inn for two nights. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and laid back. The facilities are definitely showing their age, but that is what you get with a wood frame building over 100 years old. But for the price, I don't think it can be beat. (Also, Room 34 is "haunted," or so the story goes.)
