In my opinion, one of the better shops in SM. Experienced staff and a nice selection. Always a good experience shopping here.

It's challenging to get long rides in while traveling. These guys went above and beyond to get bikes for us so we could train. I will definitely rent from them again when back in this area.

I really liked this shop until I dropped off my bike for repair. At drop off they told me it would cost $15, when I showed up a week later to pick up the bike they said $30. (mind you no one called to tell me the price difference) So when I confronted the chubby Mexican dude about it, he got frustrated, ripped the receipt off my bike, told me just take the bike and he stormed off. I really didn't appreciate his unprofessional childish actions. I still left a $20 bill in the shop and walked away.

Please don't go more this store. People just looking for your money. I lost now $ 70 bucks. The Santa Monica Bike is cheaper than the Helens and the people are so much more kind.

Confront: I paid $105.00 for mounted one bike, the same bike, in the Santa Monica Bike is $70.00.
The bicycle has come with the one part messed up. Helen's $ 55.00, the same part in the Santa Monica BIke is $20.00.

I know, business is business, but it's not fair, my money doesn't grow on a tree. I too believe your money doesn't grow on a tree. Please be careful with your money, and with the service provided.
I'll try every day, post a message with a warning.

Please people, don't go to this place spend your money.

    Thank you

Great staff! They know their "stuff". I almost made a mistake by buying a bike online.

They have a good selection of bikes at the store. I was extremely satisfied with the advice provided by the sales rep. Very friendly and knowledgeable. He helped me a lot in picking up the right size and the right bike for me. They let you take the bike for a spin behind the store, and that helps a lot. The purchase experience was great. The down side was the excessive long wait time for them to install a bottle cage and a kick stand on $1,000 bike. It took 50 minutes and they screwed up the kick stand - it was too long and it wouldn't function. Once I highlighted that, I had to wait for another 10 minutes, so someone can cut it to length. In the process, they cut it unevenly and bent the kick stand! I replaced the kick stand myself a couple days later with a better one - it took

I've been a customer for years - bought numerous kids bikes, lots of random gear, and recently a Wahoo Kickr (a rather expensive bike trainer), which turned out to be a lemon. Since it broke after a month, outside their purchase guarantee, they referred me to the manufacturer, who took 6 weeks to finally give up and promise to swap out the trainer. I went back to Helen's to see if they would do the swap, so I didn't need to wait another 2 weeks while I sent the trainer back and then they shipped a new one back. I was told to email the manager, Mike, which I did. Three days later I called and spoke to another manager, who said they could swap it out, but were out of stock. I called back two days after that and was told that the trainer was back in stock, so I came to their store to do the swap. However, Mike, the manager who never emailed or called me back, refused to do the swap. He was not helpful or apologetic for selling me a lemon and most importantly not a bit remorseful about ignoring me for 6 days (because he admitted reading my email). They've lost me as a customer forever - just not how you treat someone that's spends $1k+ for an item that turns out to be a lemon or a customer that is clearly upset about getting the runaround on an item that means a lot to them.

Fantastic place! Just bought a new bike today so I'm editing my review from before. Today Andrew was our salesman and he was fantastic! Here is my other review :My son had a flat tire The other day and we took it into them and not only did they take care of it right away they actually gave us a free tube. I have been buying bikes at Helen's since the 70s. All the other bike places Pale in comparison. Highly recommended.

Went to the Brwntwood location looking to rent a roadbike. When I got there I was informed that I had to go to the Santa Monica location. Even though I called and let them know that I was on my way there, no one informed me that reservations were required. Waste of time and money. Nice shop, though.

Go else where all the 5 stars are bought reviews they will give you a discount for a 5 star. It took them 3 1/2 hrs to attempt to fix a flat, took my bike in to have flat fixed they supposedly fix the flat and change the tube on the way home it goes flat again within 15 mins of leavingtake it back then they say it's my fault. This happens 3Xs .. The flat was never fixed after 3hrs !!!!!!!!! Then they try and charge me 55$ for the labor

Rented some bikes here while in town on business they turned out to be a great match for some canyon climbing. Staff was well trained and very personable. They even knocked off a couple bucks to bring the price down.
