I selected South Haven Animal Hospital because of location and reviews. My dogs have been to the establishment for check-ups and therefore we are not 'new clients' to this vet. Last week, my dogs got a hold of rat poison and ate a significant amount. Panicked, as these are our children, my husband called the vet to make sure they were open and see if we needed to induce vomiting prior to leaving for the hospital. We are only 3 miles away, but the roads were icy and time is of the essence when poison is involved. My husband explained the emergency and the person on the phone said that they closed in 20 minutes so not to bring the dogs there. No instruction, no acknowledgement of an emergency, no compassion. Just instruction that they close in 20 minutes so they are not welcomed. In disbelief, I called back and explained the urgency and that we are only 3 miles away and the lady (without apology) reiterated that they closed in 20 minutes and therefore would not see our dogs. She said somewhat irritated to 'call around' to find someone in the area who was open. I find this inexcusable and disgusting. If they gave two sh&ts about animals, closing on time would not be the sole focus of care.Thankfully, Bangor took them. They stayed open for 2 hours after closing due to the dire nature of the issue. I hope this place is seen for what it is a soul-less, money grabbing establishment and goes out of business. If you are looking for a vet, this may be convenient, just remember that in an unfortunate event or an emergency, these people don't care about your animals.

This doctor was the most compassionate understanding veterinarian I have ever seen I would highly recommend anybody to go see this doctor with your animals there was an absolute pleasure to be able to deal with their whole staff their sympathy regarding my dog and their understanding and their love that they have for animals to the staff there I thank you thank you and thank you
