Heinz Hall is an absolutely beautiful gathering place to listen to your favorite symphony melodies or watch other forms of art such as musicals. The architecture is breathtaking. The only reason I gave Heinz Hall a 4/5 is because of the seating. The chairs are small and don't offer much in back support and the leg room leaves you no room for changing position. To top it off, the show we saw last night didn't offer an intermission. Therefore, we were uncomfortable for 1 1/2 hours straight.

Was most recently here to see the Legend of Zelda musical experience and I was not disappointed. We had seats at the very back of the top balcony and could still see and hear everything just fine. The hall itself is beautiful but when it's at capacity it can take a long time queuing to do anything!

Went to see Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas--The Musical. Great time. If you need a boost of Christmas Spirit, would highly recommend it. The Pgh. Cultural Trust venues are all breathtaking And I've never been disappointed in a performance.

The Pittsburgh Symphony is bar none. Fantastic presentation of Haydn's Creation. They used some disturbing imagery of a chicken production facility in an artistic and ironic way to make a point that was not lost, although I think there were some who were offended and left after intermission. I personally thought it was genius.

Traffic was light on Sunday afternoon, parking was convenient, only 1/2 block from Heinz Hall. Got tickets quickly at will call. Ushers showed us our seats. Concert was outstanding. The concert hall was beautiful. We exited the building easily. Left parking area with little delay. The entire experience was very enjoyable!

Beautiful place to enjoy the symphony. Particularly lovely in winter with the huge tree. Recent renovations to the second floor bar area greatly improved restroom options but one bartender means it's tough to get a drunk in time to enjoy it at intermission without chuggingwhich is decidedly not the classy thing to do at the symphony.

This place makes me feel so special. Every detail in the craftsmanship of this theater sparks magic in my imagination. From the big beautiful brass bars holding down the luxurious red carpet on the main staircase up to the stellar crystal chandeliers that hang down from the ornate vaulted ceilings, this impressive building is the only preface appropriate for the amazing talent that walks across its stage.

Place has its problems, I admit. I'm over 6' and seating is a bit uncomfortable. It's very nice to see a show here. It's a great date night in a great part of the city. Stay in a nearby hotel and make a night and day of it.

Beautiful venue. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is simply fantastic. They delivered a great performance. To top it off they have a gem of a restaurant in the form of the Mozart room. Dinner is provided by Common Plea catering. How convenient! It is located right inside of Heinz Hall. My husband and I had dinner prior to the performance and had a simply wonderful evening. If you have a chance to attend a performance at Heinz Hall delivered by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra - go!!! Pam

Heinz Hall is always a pleasure to visit. Pittsburgh has the symphony experience down pat, I think. Nobody will look twice if you come in wearing jeans and a t-shirt, but people in tuxedos are always walking around, too. You can get liquored up before, during, or after the show. The hall itself is absolutely gorgeous, and getting to and from its central location is easy.

Updated April 16, 2017: My first National Broadway Tour of a show here, "Fun Home". As many performances as I've seen at the cavernous Heinz Hall, most all of them by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, I can't ever recall a time during a show when there were what seems like long moments of deafening silence and that the entire audience got so quiet and so still that you could hear a pin drop. I had my doubts how a play/musical would be pulled off here, but it was done brilliantly. I also have tickets for "Dirty Dancing" and looking forward to it! If you do see a touring Broadway show here don't get the cheap seats. Details are important and hard to see from back/up there.

I've been here a dozen times from 2015-2016, and have had subscription series to the Pops concerts as well as bought single tickets to numerous shows. I've had seats ranging from the closest stage box seats, orchestra level mid-sections, front row balcony, and last row in the uppermost section. Depending on the personal importance of the program, I bought my seats accordingly. I've enjoyed every performance immensely, but buying seats in the upper section would be primarily to 'hear the music' and not 'watch the show' - if you want the latter, don't buy the cheap seats.

The venue as a whole is stunning: royal red carpeting, gorgeous chandeliers everywhere, and gold trim against white paint make this place an elegant gem. The seats are just a little tight for leg room, but not uncomfortable for the average sized person. I've posted a few dozen pictures as well, all prior to this review.

There are several bars to buy drinks (soda and alcohol), all have limited seating. After the latest renovation the largest lounge was cut in half and the other portion is used for contributing members. During non-winter months the outdoor courtyard is opened and a nice place to hangout before the show.

Restrooms get really busy at intermission so plan your beverage drinking accordingly. There's also a nice coat-check room.

Adequate parking is directly across the street, the entrance to the garage is next to Starbucks on Penn Avenue. There are plenty of restaurants within a 10-minute walking distance, from Market Square to the east end of this section of town down towards the convention center. If your performance is on a Sunday check to see if the buffet brunch by Common Plea catering is offered. It's a nice break from the hubbub of the streets and gets you early access into the hall. This is particularly nice in the dead of winter.

Heinz Hall is a masterpiece in the Cultural District's crown jewel of venues. Make sure to go at Christmas time to see the tree.

This place is beautiful. Red carpets, chandeliers, the whole package. Then there's the main event. We went for "Mozart in Prague" and it was easily the best orchestra I had ever seen. All in all, this place is great

Beautiful historic theater with ornate corridors, stairwells and chandeliers. The staff is very helpful and friendly. My only negative feedback is the cramped seating in the upper level. I'm about 6'1" and my knees were digging into the seat in front of me.

Regardless of this, it's still a fantastic landmark and I would highly recommend visiting.
