Great hotel to stay at in Santa Barbara. Was extremely happy with my room and I was pleased to see how close the hotel is to the water. This is the hotel to go to if you are ever in Santa Barbara!

Was thrilled with this hotel. Every single encounter with staff was positive and so accommodating. They were so helpful when our room wasn't ready, and let us just hang by the pool and in the spa. The staff really made this trip amazing.

This review is strictly for the management team, the rest of the staff was great.
I stayed here this past weekend with a group of ten people and every one of us had some major issue with the rooms, but more so the negligent management staff. The water heater broke on our last day of vacation, a day that was supposed to be spent with our family we see once every few years. No one who lost hot water was able to shower until they were fixed at almost 6pm. These things happen, but any respectable hotel would do what they could to compensate their guests for such an inconvenience. You would think in the least the GM, Mark Romasanta would handle this with some professionalism and class rather than a too bad for you, deal with it attitude. I understand that he couldn't be troubled on the weekend so left his under qualified manager (Bernece) in charge. She authorized an offensively small credit of $100 on a $500 a night room and some how she didn't understand that being moved to a far less room and still being charged full price was an acceptable arrangement.
Lastly be sure to check your bill at checkout, even after all of this they still tried to charge us nearly double the rate we had booked, I had to remind them they agreed to comp me $100 off and they "graciously" took off 2 nights of the parking fee for the car I didn't have there.
It was such a terrible ending to an otherwise great vacation. Overall, I've never met such an arrogant and crass management group. We travel a good amount and did not feel like guests at this hotel at all, more like a huge inconvenience.response / report this review -

The staff were so friendly and helpful, they even left a complimentary basket of food for us to use. The rooms were clean and modern and had little tables to sit outside. Would 100% recommend!

Great location close to the beach in an upscale hotel with amenities. However a couple things to consider--beds don't isolate movement between partners and if you're overlooking State Street, be prepared for construction noise from the Californian Hotel. Overall, we had a lovely stay. The staff was very polite and we loved walking everywhere.

Great small hotel right on the water in Santa Barbara. Clean with a nice little gym and swimming pool. Staff is helpful and friendly.

Large and well equipped rooms. Perfect location and friendly staff. The only negative is the extremely limited hours of service for both the bar and room service - 9pm is far too early!
