We had a great time here at the Highlands Inn. Great view, super service and friendly staff!
Clean, with comfortable beds. Great spot near cannery row. Easy walk to a bunch of downtown spots. Overall great experience.
Super friendly staff! Beds were comfy, rooms were clean, and coffee was ready in the morning!
It was ok. Too late to find a cheap shared room, I had to rent a whole one. Friendly staff. Good facilities. Everything seemed to work. Just can't say i liked it.
Expensive for a 12people room. Didn't find anything else. Didn't enjoy the internal policy of not bringing my tea/coffee in the bed area
Clean and no-frills, plus there's breakfast in the morning. A good, affordable place to stay
Location is perfect!! Near cannery row, grocery store a couple blocks away. Also, take a stroll by the water down to lover's point in pacific grove, just about 2 miles from the hostel. I got back from a walk and found the hostel manager watching a boxing ppv, Canelo vs 3G. I was shocked to find this, and as a sports fan very happy! The common area is large and comfortable, perfect decor for the location. Thick mattresses help in the sleeping department. Bunks are creaky squeaky, my only complaint.
Great place to stay. We got one of the family rooms down in the basement (not as gloomy as it sounds) which had a queen and 2 sets of twin bunk beds so all 3 kids got their own bed. (Those of you who travel with multiple kids will appreciate the rarity of this situation.) The bath and shower rooms were clean, but note that even the private rooms share bathing and toilet facilities with the others. Despite this, the place felt safe and we had no trepidation sending our 9 year-old out to the bathroom on his own.
Breakfast in the communal kitchen/lounge provided a great chance to chat with our fellow travelers about where we're from, where we'd been, and where we were going.
Added bonus: it's 3 blocks from the Aquarium, and they were happy to let us park there even after we'd checked out.
I'd stay here again without hesitation, and definitely plan on checking out other HI hostels in the future.
My second time staying in Hostel international. I enjoyed my staying. It's neat, clean, and quiet place for any travelers to wind down. The location is perfect to all major attractions by walking or driving distance.
Great host and well equipped hostel. What's great is that it's just a walk away from the aquarium and good restaurants
Great location near Cannery Row, very helpful and friendly staff. It was our first hostel experience, unsure if I'll do another at this stage, my bed was very uncomfortable and I ended up with a sore back and neck, also tired the next day.
My place to go when coming to Monterey.. Under $40.00 and paking is free and plenty. Flat screen tv in the common living room is a nice touch. Furniture is clean and not worn out. I sleep in the five bunk-bed female dorm room. The beds are comfortable. Sleeping is a problem if someone snores.
Had a brief stay at the hostel. Staff were friendly, and the hostel has a nice large common area with couches, tables and chairs. A simple cereal breakfast is offered alongside flapjacks. Lots of parking is available.
