DO NOT GO HERE. They do not tell you upfront that in addition to your hospital co-pay you will be billed separately the next month for an outrageous amount of money.
They are always under construction so you won't get a room unless you're bleeding out. You'll sit on a geurney in the hallway for hours waiting to see a doctor.
They contract doctors from other offices so billing procedures take forever and it's very difficult getting an itemized bill to explain the outrageous invoice.
Good stay. Friendly professional staff was on point. Got up to my room quicker than I anticipated. I don’t want to come back to any hospital, but if I have too, it’s going to be Gulf Coast. Thanks for taking good care of me!
The very best in care and friendly health care. Everyone makes it as easy and pain free as you could ever expect. Thank you Gulf Coast, for restoring my faith in the medical field.
I had my appendix removed by the awesome staff at Gulf Coast and it couldn't have went any smoother! Every nurse, doctor and member of the help staff were very professional, helpful and personable! I will always come here for any health issues! Five stars for sure!!!
Went for a pre op at 11:00 a.m. And my blood pressure was very high. Nurse Laurie was amazing. She contacted my physician after his office was closed .he called back and asked her to take me to the emergency room she was so concerned. The emergency Dr. And nurse were great. Finally got my blood pressure down. Got home around 4:00 and Laurie called to check on me. I am so grateful to everyone.
The ER medical assistant abandoned a 56 year old man with a broken foot and shoulder, with NO wheelchair, NO hard cast which would facilitate safely WALKING around a hospital for a half hour trying to get out, and NO assistance exiting the hospital AT ALL. As a matter of fact she sat on the bench outside and WATCHED me struggle in pain as I BEGGED her to help me. An on duty security man saw me struggling and finally and graciously offered to get me to my vehicle.
What damage I did walking around on a broken foot remains to be seen. Yet here I'm being hounded for payment for services that I wouldn't inflict on a dog, which is what that woman made me feel like. It was cruel what happened under that breezeway.
I have NEVER witnessed such abhorrent care from a so-called medical facility, much less had it occur to myself! And to add insult to injury, I was further delayed in getting timely treatment by being referred to an Out-of-Network provider, foolishly ASSUMING that since the hospital had of course taken my insurance info to secure it's own payment, it's staff evidently didn't have the common sense to NOT waste time referring to a dead end when it would have been better spent taking 5 frickin minutes to actually HELP the patient with such an EASY administrative task, as opposed to hinder and hurting said patient, as was done on that night. Security cameras could and will verify everything I've said here.
The latency in time period is due to my BIGGER concern of healing from the accident, I was NEVER going to prioritize remedying your hospital's apparent deficiencies and the lack of concern or care I got from your facility, over my own well-being, of which I was solely responsible for that night, and for too long of a period afterward due to administrative incompetence or faulty policy and procedures. I'm retired as a project/operations Manager; it's NOT incumbent upon me as A PATIENT to police YOUR operations, especially when you were being PAID to care for me. The irony, hypocrisy, and travesty of what was inflicted upon me that night, particularly by that apathetic little girl, has NOT been lost on me over these 2 months of healing.
The young female medical assistant acted as a deceitful passive-aggressive individual hiding behind a sly grin and she did NOT have my interest, and her behavior that night as she watched and listened to me struggle, it flies in the face of everything that Hippocratic Oath she lied in taking stands for.
My son was seen by this hospital 3 years ago after suffering a major stroke @ 34 years old. He was treated well by the hospital physician and his intensive care nurses. His assigned neurologist and heart doctor gave us no hope and told me and my family repeatedly he would die, to prepare for it. He suffered a second stroke while in this hospital and they sent him to rehab the next morning without any treatment. I took my son out of this place and brought him back to Alabama in a medical van. He suffers from paralysis due to their lack of concern, but he is alive and doing well until today. He is back in their emergency room, as he returned home last November. They would have killed him if he stayed there before and I am more afraid for him now than then. His doctor suspects a blood clot, but if they wait like the many reviews I have read, he may be facing the same circumstances we faced before. The heart doctors and neurologist in Panama City that practice at this hospital are the worst I have ever encountered. Prayers that my son is an exception and gets the appropriate care today.
Came in with extreme pain associated with probable kidney stones. I was placed in triage in labor and delivery, which is a bed behind a curtain. Was there for 7 hours, which is the amount of time it took them to run blood work and perform an ultrasound. Wasn't allowed to see my husband or son for the entire time I was there and had no one to advocate for me.
They refused to give me any sort of medication for relief even after pleading with nurses to help me. Refused to give me water until after vomiting, and at that point I had to BEG the nurse to give me some to rinse my mouth with. I feel like I went home with PTSD after my nightmarish day there. I've never had such a terrible experience in a hospital. Will never be returning here.
Haven't been here as patient since Sept. 1984 when I gave birth to my third son. I do like the fact that the hospital participates in local health fairs. Very informative.
Not enough "Thank Yous" to say how grateful I am to the Earth Angels that oversee the Labor & Delivery and Postpartum areas. The loving care and compassion they extend is astounding the extra effort and attention that they provide for the program I represent truly warms my heart. They are delivering babies & caring for mommies and babies.and also saving lives and creating chances for others to have a more comfortable quality of life by aiding me with Regenerative Biologic's Placenta Donation Program. The Doctors, Nurses, Techs, Scrub Nurses, Clerical Staff and Housekeeping Team ALL have been amazing and I love them all. And of course, none of this would be possible without all of the Donor Mommies..thank you to them also, beautiful souls. And a special Thank You to Tamika Williams for allowing our program this wonderful and rewarding opportunitymany lives are saved and better now thanks to you!! God Bless all of these beautiful people. True Healthcare professionals who care and help in every way possible.
I have used gulf coast medical for 26 years! Last night I went to the er for flu like symptoms. Not only does my favorite hospital now look 10 times worse than ever imaginable, which is more than likely why there wasn't but 10 people waiting to be seen in the ER! Because I have used this hospital so many years, I decided to stay for treatment. Mistake! I was taken back for intake in the general manner. Vital checks and Q&A after questions were answered the very first thing the facility does is take two chest x-rays then take a swab of my nose to see if I have the flu. I am not a nurse, but Common Sense tells you do a flu test FIRST not charge a patient for two X-Rays when they just told you their symptoms are flu-like and NOT chest related symptoms AT ALL. I had my vitals taken, both xrays the hospital insisted on me having and the flu swab and seated in a hall way on a stretcher after only 15 minutes after my arrival. Sounds absurd that I sat there on a stretcher for two and a half hours after that! That was way more than enough time to treat me and decided a course of action. Instead I was hurded in like livestock given unnecessary treatment to avoid hands on approach to patients! I am so upset about how the hospital handled everything last night! Absolutely no regard for my care, just a number! The hospital now really appears as if it is way more interested in trying to make money to pay for repairs, patient care is definitely NOT a priority anymore! The nursing staff was extremely nice to me as always, but after last night, when I get my hospital bill and speak to human resources, I will determine if I ever come back and if I become a local advocate for Bay Medical Center and STOP sending people to Gulf Coast the way I have been sending people for almost 30 YEARS! To be continued after receiving my hospital bill and speaking to the HR department..
This place is a joke attitudes from hell no rooms people are in beds all up and down the sides of the halls they want you to pay Co pays before seen unless you tell them to bill you you didn't think to bring several hundred dollars with you for emergency room visit. I was in here for the same thing with my girlfriend 3weeks ago that my wife is now having, severe abdominal pains. GF was rushed back in an hour and 20 min they forgot about her then only treated half symptoms but still had her on pain med in that 1:20 . Wife sits here 3 hours until only 3 people left in the lobby most of the beds empty as we walk back to her spot in the hall 30 min later she finally gets something to ease her pain. I wish there was a decent hospital in this state! No Bay med is just as bad they told me I had $150 copay while having severe chest pains and they needed to be paid before seeing me never been back!
I wish you guys would send that Pediatric ER doctor with the smart attitude and the sarcastic smile somewhere else by now. He has been there too long. And he literally does NOTHING but waste gloves! There is nothing reassuring about him. Obviously I felt a need for my less than 2 year old child to be seen. Even the lady with the computer was trying to roll in before we got a diagnosis. Ready to collect the insurance information so yall could get your big payout for a 5 minute visit. You guys should have that area remodeled soon as much as you charge people for mediocre medical care and they way the waiting room was packed out.
