A lot of fun hiking, the trip to the look out is a very mild hike. I believe that anybody would be capable of making it. There's only a small hill climb in the middle of the hike and the rest is very minor.

Beautiful and unique area with two impressive overlooks and a waterfall. The Laurel Gorge overlook, the first of the two, can be reached by a paved, ADA accessible path, while a dirt path continues on to the Stone Door Overlook. The hike is under two miles out and back, and very easy. The Stone Door has several exposed cliffs and sink holes, so care should be taken, especially with children

My husband and I hiked to the Great Stone Door soon after we hiked the Greeter Falls trail. This one is also a beautiful spot. The trail is somewhat strenuous and has spots that can be dangerous if you're not careful. There are lots of cliffs and rocky crevices, so please watch your step. But it's lots of fun and exciting. The Stone Door itself is beautiful. It's steep and narrow, so be prepared to walk gingerly and if you walk down the steps it's a long way back up. So make sure your physically fit for it.

Good place to go on a nature walk must see the Indian post office when you're there not a good place to take small kids that you have to carry but are able to walk on their own good

Fantastic hike and rock feature! The Great Stone Door is a rock stairway that leads from the top of the hill lower into the gulch. It's so cool, you'll feel like you're in a Lord of the Rings movie. It's an easy hike (one mile) from the Stone Door Ranger Station. At the top is a lookout where you can see for miles. Be careful, though, there's no railing or anything else to prevent you from falling. Also a popular rock climbing spot. Fun for the whole family!
