Beautiful property. They need some help with food operation though. For the price, I would've hoped the dining would be spot on. 34 mins. for two breakfast orders. Eggs Benedict was like hard boiled eggs that were cooked 20 mins before I was served.
Recently spent a weekend at the resort, wow, what a great stay. The rooms were large, well appointed and in the tradition of the old south, took every opportunity to make us feel not only welcome, but special to them.
The grounds are spectacular, well kept, with walkways and a view of the water with magnificent sunsets best seen from the balcony of your room, or on the private beach.
An interesting tradition is the daily firing of a cannon with the crew in military style uniforms.
They offer a number of in house restaurants with specialty entrees including fresh gulf seafood, and the best Sunday brunch in the area.
If you are looking for a quiet stay, or opt to try the tennis, swimming, and golf, you have to visit this wonderful resort hotel.
This place was one of the most friendly places I've ever been. It was also beautiful and clean grounds. I will be back
The hotel and grounds were absolutely stunning. We had a special family brunch and it blew us all away! Every. Single. Item. Was. Fantastic. The staff from the front gate to the valet on leave was so wonderful and welcoming and personable. I really cannot wait to come back.
After I got over the one hour check in and bad dinner experience we really enjoyed ourselves. The place is just gorgeous and takes you back to the days of yesteryear. Very peaceful, beautiful, and quiet morning walks were a nice start to the day. We found plenty of dinning options in Fairhope and really enjoyed the charm of the downtown area.
I come to this Resort every year for a business meeting. It is not my choice. For some reason my company renewed is contract with this Resort. The rooms are dated, has that old scent and a bit scary. In the beginning, my trip was going fine. We decide to go out as a family and enjoy ourselves for the day. So I wrapped up all our electronic Chargers and stored them in computer bags, zipped up, in my closet with the closet door closed. When we returned to the room to relax and charge our Electronics, we noticed our bags had been tampered with and our chargers were missing. They were unable to steal our Electronics because all of our Electronics came with us. However we did leave our laptops and our laptops were untouched. I'm assuming that is because our laptops are very easy to track. After informing loss prevention and management of our situation, he was in disbelief and begin telling the stories of how previous visitors claimed their items were misplaced or stolen and they misplaced them personally. Then he assured us that his staff would not steal simple items such as electronic Chargers. There is no way possible I could misplace chargers that I specifically placed in a computer bag, zipped up in my closet with the closet closed. And when I come back to the room everything is missing from my computer bag except my computer. Loss prevention assured me that they will launch an investigation regarding the missing Chargers. Then he found pieces of cheap chargers to allow us to borrow for the night. I cannot possibly recommend this hotel to anyone. Something as simple as Chargers were stolen but the staff made us look like we were the incompetent ones. What really bothered me was those chargers went to my children's tablets and they were unable to charge their tablets due to this thievery. They were very unhappy kids. I was willing to accept blood stain on the sheets, roaches found in the bathroom and a hot blowing air conditioner but stealing my items is where I draw the line. If you do decide to stay at this hotel please take my advice. Take your own sheets, disinfectant spray and lock up all personal items including electronic chargers in your safe. If you do not lock them in your safe, please take them with you.
The dinner was very tasty! The atmosphere in the dining area had a view of the Mobile Bay that preserved the serene quietness. Teresa was very attentive to meet our needs and food choice. Knew the menu backward and forward! Her kindness was overwhelming! Likewise were all other personnel. After dinner, the walk around the grounds was delightful!
The hotel is a wonderful place. They have nice rooms, friendly staff, great facilities, a good selection of restaurants, activities during the day, and many more things which make it a very unique place. The view of the water is also beautiful, as they seem to have the best of the Eastern shore views. It's not cheap, but it did not disappoint for the price. I'll definitely be back.
Attended a work related meeting here. It's a pleasant hotel by the beach. The salt water grille is a good place for dinner(not for food) but for the beautiful location facing the beach. Sunset is just awesome here. As the sun comes down, it shines on the water and across the beach directly into the restaurant. Plenty of outdoor recreation options for kids(and adults) available.
I should say the price is 3 times that of a normal restaurant, but considering the views and the outdoor playing options, it would be worth trying once.
Stayed here with family for spring break. Weather was in the mid 70's. I can't say enough how much we enjoyed the resort. Beaches and pools were not crowded, lots of families with young kids. Has a very nice beach. Can fish off the pier or ride bikes around property. I typically don't like going over and over back to same resort. I would make an exception for this hotel. Fantastic relaxing experience.
Always an amazing experience at The Grand! The grounds are beautiful and relaxing, staff is always friendly and extremely accommodating. You will be treated first-class the entire time you're here. Great restaurant selection, lots of entertainment options. Plenty of places to relax and enjoy the day, including hammocks, swings, and outdoor seating. I can't say enough great things about this place. It isn't a hotel, it's an experience!
Great experience all around!! Rooms exceptionally clean. Staff welcoming and friendly. Loved the high tea which is served daily. Grounds are a park-like setting. Steps from the beach. Great getaway for family or couples. The Resort has something for everyone!
As a first time visitor to The Grand Hotel Marriott Resort in Point Clear, Alabama, I was delightfully surprised! The area surrounding the resort is quaint, but full of everything one hopes to find in a vacation location. There was everything from fine dining to incredible thrift shops. The resort is filled with everything one would need, though. Venturing out just enhances the experience! One of my favorite experiences was sitting around one of the fire pits and visiting with our friends. As the night grew colder, the gentleman assisting us went above and beyond the call of duty! Because we were so comfortable, he located our dinner reservations for the evening and canceled them for us, in addition to bringing us blankets to keep us warm outside. (It was a rare frigid night.) The whole experience was one that will keep me returning for years! (And this does not even include the amazing spa that I was enthralled to partake!) I highly recommend adding this resort to your "must visit" list!
We go to the Grand every year for our anniversary. This year was not the best experience. The room was right next to the stairs & lobby so you could hear everything. Our room was also very small compared to the other rooms we've stayed in. For the price it was NOT worth it. Once we were settled in our room we went to Bucky's for drinks and had a hard time getting a server. They were busy so we didn't worry about it too much. After drinks we walked around the property. Very beautiful place, even with the construction and jackhammering. After our walk we went back up to our room to getting ready for dinner. We decided to go back to Bucky's for dinner since it's reasonably priced. We sat for 15 minutes before a server approached our table. We watched them stand around and talk and sit on buckets in the kitchen/server area. Keep in mind they were not busy at all! I told my husband if we didn't get a server soon I would leave. Finally, after the server finished his conversation, he approached our table to take our order. Drinks and dinner arrived very quickly and then we didn't see our server again until our meal was almost gone. We sat there with empty drinks, while he continued to talk to other coworkers in the kitchen. The only reason we got a refill was because another guest almost walked into the server area to get someones attention. He ran out to take their order and asked us if we would like anything else. We replied.a refill would be nice! As much as we pay to stay at this hotel I expect great service. They really need to reevaluate the service staff in the bar. We decided we will not be coming back next year.
