Nice staff, clean rooms, small but the space is used well. Good price and access to NW MI

We were looking for an affordable place to stay and that's exactly what we found here. The people we're friendly and the room was comfortable. The next time we are in the Kalkasia area we will be back

Information on web site indicated: clean spacious rooms, donuts and muffins in the morning, extra "long" double beds. All "NOT" true. Our room was filthy as we discovered in the morning. Hair in tub and sink. Lots of minor repairs are required throughout the room. Noisey AC/heater. Had to turn it off to sleep. Cob webbs on the ceiling and the carpet was sticky/crunchy to bare feet. Ceiling noise from upper room was at times overwelming. One of the towels in the bathroom had rust stains Don't stay here you won't feel clean in the morning. This place is middle eastern owned and you can tell. They take over an establishment and run it into the ground. Their standard of cleanliness is sub par.

Stayed in room 17. Upon entering, place smelled like gasoline or diesel fuel. Former meth lab, is my guess. Table tops were caked with dust. Turned AC on and returned 10 hrs later. Odor was tolerable. Won't be returning.

Not bad for a motel. The rooms are clean. It's a much cheaper alternative to the hotels in Travers city for a holiday weekend.

I don't know how people are giving this more than 2 stars ???
First off rooms were $86.40 so I don't consider that "reasonable" , this is a $45 a night room at best ! To start with I made online reservations and never got confirmation, the guy at the desk laughed when I got here , fortunately still had the room I reserved.
This place is about 20 years behind in needed renovations.
Painted cinder block walls divide the room and wood paneling on other walls .
The Sink is old and nothing to stop anything going down the drain .
The bathroom was very small with a shower and toilet, about the size of a bathroom in a travel trailer . The toilet was small and short and had a oval seat on a round bowl .The wall in there had unpainted areas but they did slop paint on the stainless toilet paper dispenser.
The beds although comfortable made very loud creaking noises with any movement whatsoever .
The window curtain is so old it has moth holes in it and with the lights off in the room the light coming through makes it look like it was shot with a 12 gauge.
The door doesn't have weather seal and the draft coming in from the sides and bottom would be awful in the winter . Door handles were cheap lockable interior door handles and not exactly secure .
They also have the air conditioner/heater unit through the wall , again with no weather strips and had a gap wide enough I could see my car through it and a nice cold breeze kept the 2' area between the unit and my bed cold and drafty .
You get a dented mini fridge and a microwave but no coffee in the room or lobby .
I guess I can say the room was about as clean as it could be , had cable tv with a remote.
I'm not usually fussy and for $45 I would say it was a deal but for almost $90 for a room this out dated and in need of so many low repairs , there is no way I would give this more than 1 star. Fortunately I will never have to stay here again .

We came to Kalkaska for the festival and were looking for a reasonably priced motel with clean rooms. The front desk clerk was friendly and eager to please, the rooms were clean.
We will stay there again next year.
