Park has a wonderful visitors center with clean eco friendly bathrooms. There are several picnic shelters and parking area's. Access rainbow falls trail for a great hike.

There has been a lot of work and upgrades at this State Park in recent years. There is a very nice visitors center, a picnic area, and plenty of signs detailing the trails. The park is beautiful any time of year and well worth a visit.

We love this newer and growing state park. The visitor's center is a beautiful platinum LEED building.
Check out the popular Rainbow Falls trail, it is worth the hike. Be careful if you choose to go down to the base of the falls.
Also take the hike to the upper Bearwallow falls.response / report this review -

Great state park with several beautiful waterfalls. I have been to this State Park many times. It is great at any time of the year. There are several beautiful waterfalls and the hike along the river is very pleasant.

We hiked the Rainbow Falls Trail with our family and had a great time. This is a great trail for kids 6 yes and older. If you hike to all three falls figure 4 miles round-trip.

Clean and beautiful park! Rainbow falls are gorgeous and the hike is good, though a bit strenuous, to and fro. If you're a regular hiker, it does'nt matter much. There has beautiful spots to rest on the way, beside the river, gurgling through the rocks. There were primitive campers along the trail. And watch your kids, as you descend down by the side of the falls, there are yellow jacket nests on the ground.

Beautiful scenery you can view the waterfall with just a mild hike or you can go down to a pool below it would. It does not have a view of the waterfall but great area with a small area for swimming but it is a strenuous hike down and back.

Great hike along the Horsepasture River trails. This one one hike we always to do with the family when in the area, Rainbow Falls is worth the hike. Turtleback Falls and Drift Falls are each within 1/2 mile past Rainbow Falls.

Was here a couple years back, pre visitor center construction, and everything is now gorgeous. Great facilities. Perfect place to get some "more serious than car" camping practice in. There are developed sites about a mile from parking and numerous simpler sites with just fire rings along the longer hiking trails. Waterfalls are abundant.

The best attraction here is certainly the Rainbow Falls which is a decent hike to get to. If you're up for some longer hikes the Frozen Creek access at the north end of the park offers trails which stretch deeper into the park, providing access to lake Jocassee and the Foothills trail.
