We started out a little disappointed when we realized that Gilly's was no longer a seafood place (perhaps a name change would help avoid this in the future?), but we were trying to be open minded and decided to get some drinks and a couple appetizers before heading to another restaurant for dinner. We got the bier cheese fondue and the bacon fries. Bacon fries were stone cold when they arrived, and the bier cheese fondue was not fondue at all, but warmed bar cheese (like, straight up Schuler's bar cheese, but microwaved). My boyfriend arrived a little later, but the server never offered him a drink, and even when I tried to do her job for her, she wouldn't stick around long enough for us to interject and we eventually gave up. Won't be back, but PLEASE change the menu to say bar cheese and not fondue, because that's totally misleading.

Stopped in for a drink and some apps with a friend before a concert. Great food, enthusiastic server (Jake), and great atmosphere. For not knowing where anything is in Grand Rapids, we found a great place! I'll be sure to be back when in the area again.

Gilly’s is a fantastic place to eat! Our waiter, Jake, was very friendly and very helpful with menu suggestions. Food was delicious and quite filling! I would definitely recommend this place for a casual date night or a girl’s night out.

So disappointed in the new Gillys. My family used to love coming here for the great seafood and nice menu. What happened??
Went there last night and it's mostly a beer bar with a very limited menu. Pricey for what you get and not well organized.
We ordered wine which was awful. It had gone bad and was fermented! They opened a new bottle for us and it was better.
We ordered the Asian ginger wings which were very dry and had no hint of ginger at all? We ordered a dozen oysters at $2.50 each!!! Ouch. They were okay not bad but overpriced!!
We also ordered the gumbo and brisket nachos. The nachos never came though. When we asked our server about them she said that the kitchen told her they had sent them out??
The manager took them off of our bill which was nice. Appreciated that. When we did finally get them they were not good. Sparse amounts of cheese and I mean tiny amount of cheese. The brisket was dry and the ends of the chips were burnt I guess because they rushed them out to us.
Our server was a total sweetheart and very apologetic. She was awesome!!
However, I do not think we will be back. The menu selection and prices and quality of food is lacking.
There are better restaurants downtown that are better and less expensive.

The B.O.B. sucks! They over charge for their beer! Do not trust what is on the website! It is wrong! Be prepared to pay at minimum $15 for a growler fill! Their website says $9! Beware! It's a scam! Stay away! Take all business elsewhere to an honest brewery!

Go with your gut on what to order because the staff at this time has no clue. I was here 5 years ago and the food was good. Not today. The gentleman bartender was great but the rest just lied to me and the food i got was horrible and overpriced. So many better places in G R.

So disappointing. I've frequented Gilly's a few times in the last year- I returned here tonight for my birthday as they have (HAD) the best live lobster in town. And bonus, it's free on your birthday. They no longer have the live lobster and now have substituted it with "lobster thermador," which is basically a few small chunks of lobster heavily padded with mushrooms, breading and heavy cream. Extremely disappointing. Had this been the only flaw the meal would had not been entirely ruined, but between the beet salad which was sickeningly salty, the water and noodle flavorless udon, water and chocolate sauce martini (chocolate/coffee martini) and the poor attitude/unapologetic service we will not be returning. The best part of our evening was the fabulous service and nightcap at Judson's bar adjacent in the Bob. Thank you to the bartender there for salvaging my birthday- I wish we had taken my birthday dinner to Judson's- their food and service is far superior.

Love seafood just not the seafood here. Had the oysters and would not recommend them as they were to put it politely "a rip off". Overpriced at $25 and nothing to them. Service was very fair, but at least the beer was good. Statistically speaking these were the smallest and most tasteless oysters I ever had. I would not recommend Gilly's based on this.
