Great finds in the gem buckets here, true native specimens with great variety. A rockhound dream. I was able to add minerals to my collection that were on my life list. Can't wait to go back and see what else I can "discover".

Staff made it fun by going through all the rocks with us to tell us what we found.

Very nice and helpful both the guys selling buckets and the lady identifying the gems inside! We got the 4 gallon mix bucket with lots of bigger stones! Kids enjoyed!

We had so much fun at Gem Mountain. The friendliest staff we got to actually go into an active mine. We found lots of native stones. We will go again.

Friendly staff that brings you your bucket selection and the gemologist inside was very knowledgable. They have a wide selection of jewelry already made! I would try them before a jeweler.. for Sterling or Gold metal.

Although sifting through dirty doesn't sound like funit's actually was. The kids loved it!

I had such a great time, we bought the 80$ bucket of gems and had a Garnet cut, I just received it back in the mail and the stone is so beautiful. Thank you all for making it such a fun experience! I really enjoyed myself!

My late wife and I visited Gem Mountain several times back in 2003/2004 and were never disappointed. We usually got the larger buckets and had several of the stones we found cut (smoky quartz, blue topaz which is not indigenous to the mountains of WNC, and amethyst). We always had fun but a word of advice. Go there when it is warm. Otherwise you will freeze your fingers off in the sluice water.

Spectular place to stop and spend anywhere from an hour to all day. Owners and staff are the friendliest around. Such a fun place! Great finds and beautiful jewelry. We actually went back a second day. Have been coming here for almost 20 years from Florida and IL. Rocks gettin cut into stores arrive in a timely fashion. They make great recommendations for cuts and setting. Nice gift shop too. See you again!
