Plentiful variety of very, very unique flavors of excellent ice cream. It is not cheap, however, it is very well worth it.
The service was friendly, appreciative and prompt.
The parking lot can get crowded, so try to pick a good time.response / report this review -

It can't beat Ultimate, but the ice cream here is pretty good, lots of options to choose from and other deserts and other ways of consuming ice cream than the usual "cup or cone." Nice place, great for kids b-days and a popular spot the North Asheville for the locals.

The atmosphere is very welcoming, staff nice and it's great that they use natural and local ingredients. I've tried eight flavors, and so far only one flavor actually had a real taste to it- the apple butter. All of the rest tasted very bland and didn't have much of a taste other than sugar. I hope to see them improve on the strength of the flavors in their recipes, because then this spot would be perfect.

A little expensive but the atmosphere is awesome. The ice cream is great. Vegan options available. Some truly odd and tasty flavors.

As a loyal UNCA student, this is the place to go with student discount. I always make up the difference with a tip though. Awesome ice cream shop.

I'm having their seasonal pumpkin ice cream and it's amazing! I don't mean cheap, overly sweet, pumpkin pie. I mean full fat, creamy milk with just the right amount of sweetening. Also, rather that tasting like they poured some kind of pumpkin flavoring in it, I can actually taste the squash flavor of pumpkin! I'd swear they grabbed local pumpkins and pureed them into the cream! And I sampled their blueberry kale. It's so good! Reminds me of green tea ice cream with blueberry swirls! Love is served here, lol.

Unique ice cream flavors. I had the smoked vanilla and my friend had some sort of jam on rye ginger flavor. Both were amazing- the ice cream was smooth in texture, not too heavy or sweet, or overpowering in flavor.

Fantastic ice cream paired with a strong community focus, kid-friendly events and community fundraisers. Huge selection of vegan non-dairy ice creams as well. We LOVE The Hop!

Seriously the best! We go here every time we are in the area. So many amazing flavors, that use genuine ingredients and are so fresh! They typically have about 8 vegan ice cream flavors too!

The Hop has great homemade ice cream in unique flavors. They also carry a nice selection of gluten free, dairy free, soy free and nut free flavors. Prices are reasonable and staff is friendly.

They have beet ice cream, people. Beet. Ice cream. It wouldn't be so bad if they had a decent variety of normal flavors. This is what happens when hippies make ice cream. I will say that the service was good.

Been a while since I went here (4 years?) But was pleased with the shake and the relatively low prices. The college kids that work there are really pleasant and give you faith in humanity having a chance after all.
