Great Tuesday tacos. The selection is a little small, but the tacos are large in size. The house margarita is pretty good as well. I did notice that they have quite a lot of seats open, but have a long waiting list. I hate when restaurants do that. Hire more servers when you know it will be a busy night.
Fun atmosphere, food is just ok, decent margaritas, unfortunately our service was extremely lacking. We took a chance since Cafe Coyote was closed for private party but would not come back. They give free chips and salsa but the neither are worth eating.
Great food, nice service, decent prices, and the patio was very toasty on a cool evening.
This was the only restraunt that was opened thanksgiving it was good and different flavor for mexican food. Chips and salsa was delicious. I got one of the samplers it was all good.
I ordered the Fajitas plate. Do yourself a favor and get this updated classic. The tender marinated steak tastes as if prepared over mesquite fire. Cooked perfectly medium rare then properly sliced to serving size, served over a bed of rice that is perfectly seasoned and the beans appear to be black beens that are to die for. The traditional vegetables included mushrooms for an added depth of flavor. I am so pleased I made the choice to have dinner here at Fred's. If you love excellent as opposed to simply good food. This is the place for you and to impress your friends who enjoy a truly memorable dinning experience. The meal included fresh crushed avocado, sour cream, fresh sliced tomato and onion that just made my meal perfect for me. Enzymes aid digestion as well.
Service is good. I would only recommend coming for taco Tuesday or happy hour, though. It's too pricey otherwise.
Awesome Happy Hour deals ALL week, except Taco Tuesday. Became my wife and my favorite hang out while waiting for our daughter. Bunch of food and a good size margaritas for like 20 bucks! Good service and good quality text mex food. We like Fred''s salsa better than Cafe Coyote's. Haha
First time at Fred's. The menu had lots of interesting items. The four of us each commented that what we ordered was very tasty. But the less expensive margaritas were not so good. Hope to return.
The food was good but cost a little more then I thought it was worth. The service, Cesar in particular, must have been over worked because we were rushed and he was short with us. We saw him a total of three times over an hour and a half. I've been here a few times before on Taco Tuesday and the place is much more busy. Previous trips being good added a 🌟 which I think is generous.

This place is okay. The free chips and salsa is pretty solid, but I kind of felt underwhelmed with my burrito. It was very large and it wasn't bad, but it just wasn't that enjoyable. The veggie burrito I had was covered in the jack cheese sauce, but it wasn't great cheese. You could barely tell it was jack cheese. The burrito lacked flavor.
That being said, the tacos were good.
best tacos hands town in old town. happy hour is so reasonable and the food is large portions. staff is friendly and food is amazing. always here.
Took my wife and kids to SD on a family trip. Went to old town for a little fun and happened to dine in at Fred's. Food was taking a bit longer than expected, but great food and excellent service from their restaurant manager Teva. This guy is literally Running Everywhere. Taking order, serving foods, cleaning. We were having problems with the drink my kids ordered, he offered to switch out and was kind enough to serve my kids meals before some of the customers who came before us. Teva is awesome, myself and my family had a good time.
Had the Best experience today at Fred's. First off, they are not just dog friendly but provide huge bowls of water and have a dog menu for them! Second, the servers were fabulous and happy. Food was excellent so the whole experience was A++. Our new favorite place in Old Town!
My sister's and I went here the other night and we absolutely loved it! It was a little questionable at first because when we walked up to be seated she said it would be about a 15 minute wait even though there were several tables open. I mean 10 plus tables! Our wait ended up being less than 10 minutes which was fine. I was worried we weren't going to get our orders in before happy hour because we had gone at 5:35 to make sure we could get a Margarita from the happy hour menu but then we had to wait to be seated. Our waiter Chris was great! He made sure he got our orders in for happy hour which was awesome! He had such a fun personality and really made our experience great. The Margaritas were AMAZING! We got the frozen strawberry ones. Our food was great as well and the tortillas are awesome! The atmosphere is super fun and I appreciated the warmer's that they had out on the patio! Overall I would go back and I definitely would recommend it!
