This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Little Italy. It is a fine dining meets relaxed restaurant with a beautiful and romantic ambiance inside. The food is delicious and seasonal. Hands down the beat tiramisu in San Diego. They have options for vegetarians and hard core carnivores. Salads are fresh and full of flavor. Pasta well thought through. I’ve never been a fan of Mac and cheese, but I’ve had it there—it is stellar and addicting. The service is efficient and you can feel the love in this family owned restaurant.
Decor was fun. Food and service were adequate. More shtick than substance. Good if you have kids, but not a refined palate.
I visited this restaurant on a recent Saturday evening while in San Diego for a conference. It was clearly busy, and there would be a wait for a table, which we expected. However, after the hostess took our name and gave us a wait time of ~20 minutes, we moved off to the side to make room for others (still very close to the hostess stand). After ~40 minutes, another member of our group went to check on things and was told that our name had been called (it clearly had not) and we were moved to the bottom of the list. After finally being seated another 15 minutes after that, we noticed that there were easily a dozen or more tables sitting completely empty, without reservation notices. At least this many tables stayed empty during our meal.
There were plenty of options on the menu - everyone should be able to find something they will enjoy. My group had a couple of types of pasta, and the special baked ziti. It was all good food, but nothing special or fantastic. I'll try a different place in Little Italy next time I'm in town.
Friendly staff, quick service, tasty food, and reasonable prices. Child's meal includes drink and scoop of ice cream for dessert. Lunch specials are varied and we'll served portions. Salad is very fresh and delicious. Highly recommend coming here for brunch or dinner. Outdoor seating was comfortable.
A beautiful Italian restaurant. I had lasagna and my daughter had eggplant parmesian. We finished our plates even though we were stuffed, it was so good. Nice wine list, waiter was great. I wish we would have had room for dessert.
Wow. After reading numerous on line reviews of Mimmo's I couldn't wait to eat there. Four of us went for my wife's birthday.Inside the restaurant it was dark, so dark we had to use a cellphone flashlight to see the menu, and we were not the only table to do this. For appetizer we had calamari which had a thick brown extra crispy coating, over fried?, so that eating them was like crunching something hard. Inside the squid was very tough and chewy. The sauce was more like salsa than cocktail sauce.Bread was served with oil which I believe may have been a blended oil rather than pure olive oil. Two of us had pizzas and I strongly suspect they were made from frozen dough. Both were perfect circles with no crust. Eating the pie was like cutting soggy cardboard. Two people had pasta. The pasta was from a box and it was badly overcooked. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. the service a bit slow. Hard to believe they can serve this kind of food for the prices they charge. They also have this quote on their website.."All of our food is from fresh top quality ingredients to create the freshest meal possible." If only.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! If you have been to Italy and are longing to feel like you are there again this place will give you a little of that amazing feeling because indoors it looks like you are out side in an Italian village! Quaint and comfy and great service and fabulous food and awesome Italian wines! One of my favorite places in little italy!
Visiting San Diego, and stopped here. Best Italian food you will ever have. A little on the higher side for pricing, but the quality is very deserving. If you like Italian, definitely stop in here
Superb service and excellent suggestions by the server. I loved the atmosphere. It's like a little slice of italy in San Diego.
My family and I were walking around Little Italy, not knowing what place had good food, what place was expensive. We needed a place where not only the adults would like but the kiddos as well. We came across Mimmo's and since there was no wait time and it smelled good from the road we were seated. Let me say this, if you are in the area you MUST try thid place. The atmosphere is relaxing, the food is beyond delicious and the price you pay for the amount of food is worth it! Not to mention who sweet thevstaff is and very knowledgable. Kids LOVED their meals, the adults ate till we almost exploded, savoring every bite. We had to go back 2 more times because the whole experience was too good to pass up.
While walking around little Italy ,we were drawn to Mimmos ,from the server to the last dish ,excellent would be one word to describe our experience. We'll be back highly recommend
A meal that I will never forget. The appetizers are out if this world. Jessie was an awesome waiter and I can't wait to go back
The bread for starters is the best bread I have ever had!! The service is good but not the best. The sandwiches and calzones are very good. Also the Italian sodas are very good here too.
