Delicious food at good price. Portion sizes just right - sufficient so you are not hungry, not big enough to continue binge eating because it is so good

Not so good Food was mediocre at best. Not sure how they got all of the positive reviews I see online. I know SD doesn't really have amazing BBQ so maybe theyre comparing to other local BBQ establishments. I've heard that this restaurant used to be better but wanted it to be good since I live close by. It just wasn't
The food tasted nothing like any of the BBQ I've eaten in Texas (Austin, Dallas, Corpus Cristi). I got a multi meat/item sampler plate with brisket, chicken, ribs and some sides. Item that stood out the most were the French fries. They were tasty. Their sauce was just weird. Way too much chili powder or something odd that stood out.
Whats up with the free Chips and Salsa? Not a good idea, even as a freebie to guests. Decor was fine but they were playing some awful, hardcore techno and rap, with a bunch of old ladies there eating. Just made the ambiance super awkward. Staff was nice and helpful, and the restaurant (FOH) was clean and presentable.
P.S. I've been in F&B for 15 yrs. I hate writing negative reviews of restaurants and rarely do it. Felt the urge to do so in this case, in hopes they may read this and be able to improve it.response / report this review -

Church men’s BBQ lunch while waiting for women’s tea to finish. My oh my that was good. Brisket smoked and moist eaten like Sloppy Joe. Fall off the bone chicken. Beans, potato salad, green salad all great.

The beef brisket was Quality Meat and tasted good , maybe it's the neighborhood but $9,16 cents that's including tax for a sandwich and one side is just a bit out of my price range , the other disappointment as I got up 3 times to get extra barbecue sauce for brisket sandwich no one could have assisted me due to the partition between the counter and the seating area, the people that work there cannot see you and you cannot see them, this is a bit of an inconvenience , those are the negatives now for the positives , television for sports cold beer and enjoyable seating area , they also have wine , mind you know I was only my first experience with this restaurant , so there are other items on the menu I haven't tried and I'm sure many are delightful and tasty , that's a good chance I'll be back but I'll have to be sporting some cash .

Amazing. I have been going there for many years. It is still as good as when they first opened. They were the first in San Diego to carry Shiner Boch on tap. Super friendly staff since family run. Parking is easy and available. I will drive from anywhere in San Diego to eat there. I wish there were more locations.

First went in and thought it was ok. Them went in line to order, had 9 people all together including a child. We go to order amd a customer as for the owner, the lady who was taking our order doesnt acknowledge that we were there waitng, so she decides to help the guy who was after us first. She calls the owner doesnt say amything to us as inill be with u guys in a secondor let me help them firstnothing. Sp we order and 2 outta the 9 ordered beer. It took probably 15 - 20 just to get that. This place was dead when we went it being busy was no excuse. We had to remind her about the beers. I had somw ribs.and they were super dry not the greatest.

I love Abbey's beef brisket. The BBQ is always delicious. I'd like to give a shout out to Mark. He was extremely friendly, helpful, and made ordering easy. Thanks Mark! Highly recommended!

The beef brisket sandwich is good and probably should have just stuck to that. The large platter was not worth it. The pork was too gamey and the sauce was not good. Should have asked for sauce on the side. The mac salad was basic and I couldn't eat the coleslaw because it tasted weird.

I have been going here for many years. The bbq is always great. The last few years I have been going on Sundays and the young crew couldn't be nicer! I think Abbey herself works on this day. It's so nice to see their polite and friendly attitude. Very refreshing!
