The food was awesome, the service lacking. The owner had to shut down the place as she can't find wait staff to work for her. A real shame as the meals are authentic German food with lots of beer options. Will be missed
The food was pretty terrible. The people are lovely. However, the meals are pretty gross. They tasted like reheated prepackaged foods with lots of vinegar mixed in. The prices were pretty high for what you get too.
Cakes baked fresh in house, willing to make alterations to homemade dishes like the Potatoe salad, cuke salad reminds me of my grandma's cooking. Definately worth the trip and the family atmosphere makes it feel like home
Excellent food with great service! I had a little difficulty reading the menu but the waitress was very helpful. The food was very flavorful and the portion was huge! I would definitely go back when driving through Emporia.
My old Army pal Rick H. suggested German food when we were in Emporia. This place is off-the-charts wonderful. I had the beef roll, sauerkraut & potato salad. It was the most delicious food I've ever tasted. Give it a try, I'm glad I did.
The food was amazing. I ordered the schnitzel with brown gravy and mushrooms, sauerkraut, and home fries. I have not had home fries this good since Germany. The staff was very friendly and took our order right before closing. The restaurant also has some items from Germany available for purchase including coffee, sweets, baking supplies, and condiments. The atmosphere in the restaurant itself very homey and relaxed. If you live in the area or just passing through I highly recommend stopping in and getting a bite of some authentic German cooking.
Extremely accommodating staff. I called in a to go order 30 minutes before close and they were able to make our food in less than 20 minutes. It was both delicious and fresh. The chef is German and the food tastes authentic. I highly recommend this establishment. It's a hidden gem that I will frequent every time I visit Emporia.
