Only large theatre in town that has first run movies, but it is definitely my second choice to seeing movies at the refurbished Sunrise theater in Southern Pines. Sandhills Cinema is ALWAYS dirty, especially the bathrooms. This place needs to be gutted and redone.

The one good thing is that the staff is always friendly and nice.

I like this theater. Their popcorn is good, but it's a little cold in the theater for me but that differs from person to person. Their staff is great too. They could use some more staff though. Also, their bathrooms could use some work. They need to clean the theaters a little better before each movie.

Reasonably comfortable theater with seats that lean pretty far back. Have the 'D-Box' seats that move/vibrate in response to the action on the screen. Haven't tried them though. Friendly staff, and responsive. The one movie I went to see there had problems with the projector. They responded quickly when told about it, moved the audience (there were two of us total) to a different showing and gave us an extra free pass. 5-stars for the customer service and accommodating staff, less a star for having the problems in the first place.

The reviews for this place are pretty unreasonable. The whole town like to talk up this place and say how bad it is, or share rumors about the "Sandhills Theater". They definitely need to remodel, and lower their ticket prices. I don't want to go here ever again because their ticket prices are 3 times the amount of a normal movie theater. It's almost $20 for adults a ticket after taxes, and the refreshments are expensive as well. They take advantage of people here because they know that they are the only option. Just wait until the movie comes out on Red Box, and buy snacks at your home. It's not worth it because of the prices, in this case you do not get what you pay for.

Arm rest for the chairs are rough and almost 0 cushion. D-box seats is really the only way to go for comfort since they are new seats. The bathroom is either hit or miss. Some times its cleaned well, sometimes its not. But there seems to always be something broken whether its toilets, paper dispensers, sinks or no soap. I have 0 issue with the food and majority of the store is cleaned well. Its a shame customers will drop food everywhere but some of the workers need to do a better job regardless cleaning the mess up. Depending on who is cleaning the rooms they are either dirty or clean with horrible old seats with arm rest that sometimes feels like sand paper. I haven't had any issue with the movies playing in my experiences. My only complaint would be some of the obnoxious customers not shutting up making so many comments through out the film which doesn't happen often but when it does it ruins the film. I suggest making employees visit the rooms to check for any disturbances. Like perhaps staying inside for a few minutes.

Replace old seats. Urge some of your workers to clean bathrooms/picture room better. Repair broken utilities in the bathroom.

I'm heading to the movies this afternoon and driving 30 miles to Fayetteville when I live 5 miles from this theater. That's how bad it is. It's dirty, overly priced($8.50 compared to$5.50 at millstone 14 a beautiful theater), with poor picture and sound quality. Like the other reviewer, I'm sick of reading the owners replies to contact the manager. They need to fix this dump of a theater!

Update 10/16/17- Looking through some of the newer reviews and without any doubt the people giving this theater five stars are either working for or related to the owners. No other person in their right mind would rate this theater that high.

Other than the complaints posted in other reviews..dirty, seats broken, needs a makeover etc..that I also agree with, my major complaint is with security. Nobody ever goes into the movie when it's actually playing to see what's going on in there. Well I will tell you what is happening. People constantly talking so you can't hear the movie, cell phones being used all over the theater, teens giggling during a horror movie when somebody gets killed or their 15 year old boyfriend is making some smart a$$ comment about everything that happens so he can sound cool in front of his girl. We have went to the manager several times with a family getting ejected once but that's about all that's ever been done. If there was another cinema nearby that was clean with security so things like this didn't happen I would gladly pay twice the amount just to be able to go in and enjoy a movie in peace.

The ticket prices are ok. Movie Tuesday is the best since it is more affordable. They provide a military discount which is nice. The customer service has always been friendly. But cinema itself is pretty old. They made some updates with the D-Box chairs. Overall, something fun to do in the area.

Absolutely gross. Everything about this place is dirty and needs a complete update. It is located in such a beautiful area and it does not do it justice. Not what you would expect in such a well cared and obviously loved area. The floors are horrible, the bathrooms are horrid, the seats are dirty and smell the list goes on and on. The prices are the same or more than theaters that are in great shape. The owners take advantage of knowing they are the only ones here and don't care.

It's not the best movie theater but it's pretty much the only one around. Tuesday night tickets are $6 so that's great! A/C doesn't always work so be ready to sweat.

Needs some real attention on the facility both inside and out. To be in such a prominent community with visitors coming and going for golf and other events, leaves a not so good lasting impression.

Way over due for a makeover!! Other areas have amazing theaters now with a clean atmosphere, comfy reclining stadium seats and upscale refreshments.

Could be a real money maker if someone gave it a facelift.

Always have the Movie you want to see playing, worker's are very nice. I bought my Xbox tickets for Wonder Woman on line and they were only$10.00. I don't know how long they will leave that mistake up☺☺🎉

This place has been a dump for as long as I can remember going. Obviously FRANK THEATERS do not care as they make the same lame response for every single person that makes a negative post. Don't just say that the manager is going to contact someone and not do anything about the problems DO IT. Make improvements! The bathroom is horrible. The dryers don 't work and I could blow my hands dry faster than it takes to dry them with those dryers! It's always dirty and several toilets are marked as "out of order" Ridiculous! Most seats in every theater spell like pee and are sticky it's disgusting!! The ONLY reason people go here is because it is the only theater around. It's overpriced for the tickets and the snacks! If you take a family of four, you can guarantee you are gonna spend at least $60 bucks to watch a movie and have snacks!! You people don't care of the condition of the theater because it is making you money. Some of the higher ups need to come and make a visit here and watch a movie and see if it is a place you would like to bring your family to to watch a movie. I can guarantee you that if you did you would never come back here or maybe it would catapult you into actually doing something about it and not just sitting there filling your pockets full of the hard earned cash that us middle class folk fork out to go to this disgusting theater Every one of you should be ASHAMED of yourselves

I don't have a problem with the price if you want to see new release movies, the prices are fairly standardized. The $6 Tuesday night special is a real value. The issue I had was that the projector quality was horrible. It was under lit and blurry. I understand that renovations for a movie theater esthetically upgrading is very costly for a small town theater. That being said there is no excuse for the projector to not properly display the film. Sound and picture quality are paramount.

I recently moved out from California to this great community, without exception the people I have all met here have said over and over again that this theater is terrible. I appreciate that the theater is here but it is in desperate need of some TLC. My recommendation is to start with making sure the equipment is upgraded everything else as time and budget permits.

This is a sincere review I hope you take it to heart. I wish you nothing but the best for the future of this community theater.
