My parents love this place is don't know why , but I went to go get them some gift cards for Christmas and I tell the hostess what I'm there for she point to the fish counter and goes they can help you there . She acted as if my money or the fact I'm buying something from the restaurant mattered and was more interested in talking to the two other hostesses that were standing there . It did give me time to look at the fish in the counter and view the prices , which seem to kinda high . I can make that assumption due to the fact I've worked in the retail industry for over 25 years . After awhile I was given my gift cards , I thanked the counter check and as I walked pass the hostesses again telling them thank you , they acted like whatever and went about their conversation . This will be the last time I ever buy anything there again , there are a million other places to buy fish most of them seem happy to have customers come though their doors .

Fish is excellent, get the Rainbow Trout cooked to perfection. The wine mussels are also fantastic in flavor, reminded us of belgium. The pasta was under cooked and hard to chew and contained few shrimp and scallops hence the 4 stars. The place has a great atmosphere and the staff is attent and with a good attitude. We plan on returning for many years to taste more of the menu and get stuff from the fish market counter. You need to visit this place if you like places like Kings fish house, the food here is better in many respects we were pleasantly surprised!

Cute spot with fishtanks and a strong nautical fishing theme. Carved wood pillars tell stories of the sea as you're surrounded by fish. Great oysters and drinks from the bar. A unique and unexpected pleasure in Vista. - NE Clam chowder is thickened with flour

This place was awesome. The prices are accessible, the food was amazing. Specially the scallop and the crab. OMG. This is a most stop place is you are visiting the city.

Growing up in Southern California, the biggest treat for me was to go to the Fish House. When I returned recently from 15 years away, I found they have almost all closed. But, inexplicably and fortuitously, the one in San Marcos remains. Since it was my birthday, dad suggested we go there. The food is as I remember (delicious), the service was great, and the birthday sundae was understated, sharable, and came without any obnoxious singing (a huge plus for me, who is easily embarrassed).
I am told that weekends are crazy busy and the food and service suffer for it. But mid-day Wednesday was perfect. Highly recommend.

Expensive, but the food in generally good. Clam chowder was great, as were the clams on the half-shell. Oysters were not so muchpretty tasteless.

I used to just love Fish house Vera Cruz but they have gone down hill in my opinion in several areas. The prices have gone up considerably over the past several years and the portion sizes seem smaller. The side order of carrots used to be sliced and flavorful. Now they are carrot sticks basically and aren't even really cooked. They tasted like look warm crispy carrots as if they were steamed for about 30 seconds. Their food just isn't good enough for their prices anymore. I used to think the exact opposite, good food with reasonable prices but it just isn't so anymore.

Had dinner on Friday, January 13, 2017 at this restaurant. While the hostess and wait staff were very friendly and efficient, the food left something to be desired. They have a large selection of seafood, however, every piece of seafood has the same seasoning: salt, pepper and paprika. Tarter sauce was the only sauce offered. We had trout. It was dry and parts of it were chewy. The sides offered were cole slaw, dinner salad, rice pilaf, carrots, broccoli, and Romano potatoes. I had the Romano potatoes and salad. I could not eat the potatoes. They were dry and cold. The salad was small and wilted. The waitress replaced the potatoes with broccoli which was adequate. Large dinner rolls were served with the meal which were good. I was very disappointed! With the variety of fish they offer, one would think there would be some other preparation available! Would not return to this restaurant!
