Guys if you think you will keep the property nice and clean hoping to get most of your deposit back? Think again. I keep my place clean even though they hand me not so clean apartment yet when I ask for my deposit they deduct $200 for what they refer it as "light cleaning/wipe plus painting" NOT HAPPY AT ALL.

Where do I begin. Well let's start with the fact that the staff seems like they would rather be anywhere else, doing anything else than helping you. The buildings aren't maintained, instead they subcontract out service to the lowest bidder, giving them keys to your apartment by the way. Oh and don't even think about getting your full deposit back. If you leave it spotless, they will charge you for cleaning and painting anyway. If you love incompetence and lack of security, not to mention overpriced properties, then rent from first realty.

They will steal your deposit money with overly priced move out fees they show.
I lived in two apartments Terra Nova (E Magnolia Ave) and University Apt (N Donahue) rented through first realty during my two years here in Auburn. Terra Nova had bad ac's and University Apt had very bad furniture. They were helpful enough to partly fix those problems. They changed the ac filter but suggested me to keep the ac open all the time to show its full effect. And they did change the couch (i found one cell phone, couple of coins and plenty of pencils of old tenant) but told me i had to live with the old reeking refrigerator and the tainted mattress. I did not have to deal with them for the most of the time, but just to pay rent and stuff and they were friendly over their counter. BUT THEY SHOW THEIR TRUE COLOR DURING MOVE OUT. They charge you highly for cleaning/ painting/ carpet cleaning. I was stupid enough to rent with them again the second time. I guess the fault is mine.
Just take plenty of photographic evidence of the place at the time of move in and at the time of move out. Dont let them leech out more money out of you.response / report this review -

My wife and I rented a wonderful house through First Realty for over three years before moving out of the area. They were very responsive to any issues that we had and whenever there was a problem with the property it was remedied quickly. The only detractor is that communication was sometimes a problem, but I know they are very busy with the amount of properties that they manage, so I understand but was sometimes frustrating. I would also like to mention that the owners of the house were very quick to take care of any issues that arose. For example the air conditioner went out in the summer and it was completely replaced by the next day. Overall it was a great home for us while we were in Auburn.

So far my experience has been fairly great. I've never had issues with getting anything fixed I either simply submit my maintenance request online or call and within a day or two maybe even same day it is fixed. Haven't had any money issues or issues upon moving in everything went smoothly. Upon move out whenever I do, I will let you know how my experience went.

As a realty company in Auburn working with mostly college age/young professionals, they do the best they can. Don't expect to be treated as a paying adult if you're living in housing aimed at students.. That's not how any rental company around here works.
However, Richard Walker was our property manager and is an excellent guy! He is professional, courteous, and helpful! Numerous things in our apartment needed to be fixed, and he made sure it happened in a timely manner. If I had a question he promptly responded, giving me the most priority possible. Wish everyone at Auburn Realty was more like him!response / report this review
