Great food as we had the trio app and 2 different pizzas with drinks. Service was very nice and quick. A great place that was recommend by a random lady on the streets of Chicago. Thank you I'll come back
Ambiance and service were fine but food was really lackluster. My husband ordered the corned beef sandwich and it was literally a few slices of corned beef on dry toast--no cheese, no lettuce, no tomato, no mayo/mustard/dressing. It was beyond boring and not worth $12. My sandwich was fine but not outstanding. Nothing to write home about. Server was friendly and food came out relatively quickly but we won't come back.
The food is good in here. The national Federation of the blind Chicago chapter meets here on a monthly basis every second Saturday of the month. So for example the second Saturday of each month there is a national Federation of the blind of Illinois Chicago chapter meeting. The food's pretty good here. I have to admit at certain times it can be very distracting and noisy in this place. This place is very popular. And so just be prepared for a lot of noise in a lot of conversation. This place is moderately priced.
My grandson is a student at Roosevelt University. This is his favorite place to eat. They have good food at a reasonable price. The service has been terrific. I might look for a little more atmosphere, but this place fills up hungry young people.
Great food, neat atmosphere and good prices. The name may be weird and hard to remember, but the pizza will be hard to forget. When in Chicago, you gotta go with the deep dish. And this place has the best! I think I just ate a pound of cheese and will be stuffed for days on the two slices I just ate. Tried the ribs as well, and they were also great. Fall off the bone tender.
Met the owner and his wife when we were there, both really great people.
Highly recommend.
Good service and food at reasonable prices. Our waitress was professional and attentive. We ordered the hickory hamburger at $13 it was great and cooked to order, and the Cajun chicken Alfredo pasta at $15 it was very good but the pasta was a bit over cooked. The portions were very generous.
Their soda was expensive at $3.95 per glass and I'm not sure if it even included a refill.
The place is very quaint and nicely decorated with tons of historical Chicago pictures and celebrities autographed pictures. All in all a good place to check out.
The atmosphere is very dark and settled. Made me feel like the Mob still operated in the back rooms. The staff take really care of you, as if you've got connections to da boss man. The waitress helped me order and assisted in making the ticket cheaper when I tried to customize some things. Their exchequer Amber ale was delicious and the Hickory burger was a great pair. Also, their in house sweet mustard is "an offer you can't refuse"!
I had a fish sandwich (battered fish on a brioche bun) with fries. Food was served quickly and was really nice - good crisp batter, juicy fish, and a really tasty brioche. Fries a little soggy. Reasonable beer selection.
The restaurant itself was reasonably busy, but not crazy. My server was attentive and helped me out really well with all questions. Nice decor and comfortably dark inside.
It's not so much that I didn't like this restaurant. It was the server we had. I took a friend of mine to lunch for his birthday. Unfortunately I am on a restricted diet right now with exact weights, measurements and ingredients which makes it impossible to eat out so I brought my lunch. I informed the server of this, and the server said "I'll inform management" and my friend ordered his lunch. There were no words along the lines of "that's ok" and got a negative vibe. With this kind of reception I thought to myself "How can I make her more cool with this?" So I ordered a coffee. When my friend got his lunch, I ate mine discreetly out of the 2 baggies I had it in. I used a fork and napkin in the place setting that was already set on the table when we got there. I had to cut things inside the plastic baggie to make it bite size. During this time she came by a few times to see if we needed drink refills, saw that I was eating out of baggies and did not offer a plate. When our time there was about to end I asked her to give me the check. I think here is when the light maybe went on a little when she realized that I was the payer (and tipper). I took the 19.00 bill, figured out what 20% would be and then doubled it leaving 8.00 as a tip when it was not deserved by her. I had planned on leaving a tip based on 2 lunches but she didn't know that and seemingly assumed she would only be getting a tip on one lunch based on her lack of better service to me. I would have greatly appreciated a little empathy and the offer of a simple plate. I plan on going to lunch with this friend again and would go here again (When I can eat normal) because the food looked good and he likes the place but I would hope to not get this server again. It was a bit short sighted of her to not be gracious and possibly have at least one customer not come back. I don't think it's asking too much to offer a plate when someone is on a restricted diet. How much effort would that have really cost her but it would have gone a long way. I would think a situation like this probably doesn't come up often but I would hope the management would coach their servers on how to handle it better if it does.
Connor was horrified when he thought I was writing a review of this place, so obviously I immediately opened my GoogleMaps app to write a review of this place. I've been coming here for years (with a hiatus in the middle) and I just love it. My favorite place to grab food or a drink in the Loop, by far. Excellent food, great beer list, great cocktails, and all the Malort anyone could want (a dubious honor, I know). Love this place!
Stuck us in the back, squeezed behind a large party even though there were lots of other tables open. My fish from my Fish and Chips tasted as if it had been cooked previously and either held out refried to reheat. Others liked their food. Don't think I'd go back.
No doubt Exchequer Restaurant is the best in downtown area. Multiple different varieties of food they and believe it or not they are all good. And they are open till late evening
You just could not go any better than that. Even Homer Simpson will call Exchequer home of paradise. Not to mentioned the atmosphere and restaurant staff are great. They even historical artifacts and pictures allover the restaurant. It goes without saying that I personally recommend Exchequer Restaurant. Believe me you will not be sorry.
Good place for office get together and other parties involving alcoholic beverages. Have good collection of beverages and appetizers. Nice ambience and average service. Have been to place few times and mostly late evenings are very crowded. For a large group it is recommended to make advance reservations.
