Erbelli's food in general gets a 5 star at both locations. This location's service however is mediocre at best. Went in on 12/9 around 7 p.m. and was seated by the bartender (hostess/server was no where to be found). Waited over 5+ minutes and none of the servers acknowledged me. Honestly, one of the servers did everything she could not to make eye contact with me. Finally got fed up and walked to the bar (to which the rest of my experience was fine). In a restaurant with such a small section 3 servers shouldn't have any issues keeping up. What sucks for those servers is I am a bartender at another local establishment and they missed out on a great tip. Step up your game servers of Portage!!!

The good: The pizza is AMAZING. Easily the best in Kalamazoo, and probably in my top 5 of all time. 5 stars.

The bad: Not so great service if you placed an online order. Expect to wait 30 minutes past the promised time for your order with no compensation. 1 star.

First visit (tonight): order was promised at 7:10pm. Was originally told it would be an hour upon arrival, at which point my husband stated it was promised at 7:10. They said the pickup time on their website is wrong. They had our number, they couldn't have called us? At 7:25, we were told it would be ready in 5 minutes. We finally got our order at 7:40. At any other pizza place I've ever been to, we would have received a coupon for a free appetizer or at least SOMETHING for the inconvenience. Not here.

Again, the silver lining is that the pizza is great, but who wants to spend their night in a cramped lobby with a bunch of other annoyed people? Not me.

Maybe I'll visit again for lunch or any time I want to be a glutton for punishment (and amazing pizza), but I'm good for awhile.

BEST PIZZA EVER!!! Tried for the first time about two months ago and have been back several times and even took family while they were in town for a visit and they loved it. Tiny place and sometime you have to wait a while, but it's worth it! Oh, sauage soup on the soup and salad bar is amazing.

Good pizza. Way to many tvs for a little place. Only one person taking care of dining area. Tables were a mess.

Pizza is straight fire. Seasoned beautifully, cooked to perfection. Friendly staff. Quick pick up or delivery.

One of my favorite places in Portage. Small, cozy, friendly and the American style Italian food is to notch. Ever since discussing this place, I've rarely been back to Carrabba's or even Zazio's. Pizza is excellent, the menu has a choice for everyone. The tiny salad bar is well stocked. I have nothing negative to say about this place and I have been to Milan and Venice.

I had the baked ziti, it was delicious really liked it a lot. My husband had a sandwich that was good but hardly any meat, the chips and cheese was good and the Erbelli bead was good with the marinara sauce was good, a little high on the price for the sandwiches, but the rest was worth what we paid.

Everywhere I go, I try local shops. This place is a must visit whenever you are in the area. They still do a buffet which is awesome and hard to find. The pizza is great and the crust actually has flavor. It is a wonderful treasure tucked away.

Ordered takeout, got erbie bread and a medium "Porto City" pizza. The toppings were fine. The sauce is good enough, smooth but not very flavorful - reminded me of tomato soup. The crust was kind of soggy and partially burnt, which means the seasoning they put on the crust was burnt, which does not taste good. Cheese was bland; good texture and there's enough of it, but not flavorful at all. The erbie bread was one of the blandest cheese breads I've ever had - no flavor at all, overcooked, and very greasy.

Overall the pizza was okay - less burnt crust and more flavorful sauce and cheese would have made this a lot better. But definitely not for the price.

I'm from out of town. I wish this place was in Cincinnati. Ordered at the bar for carryout. Service and snack at the bar amazing, took home food after making friends, and it was slap-your-grandma good! Can't wait to get back up there! Great work team!

Delicious pizza, though the sauce is a touch sweet. They do their best to make the place feel comfortable, but it's crowded and showing its age.

Great atmosphere for a bar/Italian restaurant. They had several beers on tap that were craft beer along with all the other plane Jane beer that is a staple with any restaurant. They also had a full bar, with plenty of specialty drinks. The food was out of this world. The mozzarella sauce they use on dishes is great in taste, and not like any I have had before. I had the Chicago stuffed pizza, which stuffed me. My wife had a Italian sub which she enjoyed very much. All in all its a great place.

I have ordered delivery from them twice in the past few months and both times my order was wrong. How frustrating!!! The first time I opted to have it remade and the second a free coupon for another sub. Don't really know that either of these options are satisfactory so it's not likely that I will be ordering any time soon. Disappointing cause I've always been a fan.
