We loved our time at the El Cortez. The casino is older and not as luxiorous, but I think there is appeal in this. They had someone playing a grand piano and slots where coins drop. They also have very reasonable priced tables for blackjack and roulette. They also have machines for $1 blackjack and roulette. Probably one of the cheapest if not the cheapest in town. Their food is economical and they have some pretty happening food venues. The staff is friendly and seems like a family. The Saturday night drawing is fun and exciting.

Reserved 2 nights on my cheap flights app for a huge discount. Room was very nice in every way. Also the restaurant had a wonderful Croissant breakfast Sandwich and a fantastic waiter. Great experience and I will stay there again

Cheap tables, kinda dirty and old school. Nothing special but probably a good place to hang at. Drinks were attainable at the tables, albeit slow (but not as slow as other spots. Cocktails watered down. Beers were easy to get. Decent experience, nothing special or great. Had fun though with our crowd.

Stayed here for the wedding night. The cabana suites are spacious and luxurious. Now staying in the tower. Great price for what we got. Plus casinos close by. We love Freemont street so staying here is very convenient. Good staff good service so far.

I like this casino because it has a unique cozy feel. Its a little darker inside and quieter than most. Also have good games for people trying to make to most of a small gambling budget such as $1 video blackjack and drink specials.

I unfortunately I chose to stay there because of the convenience. The room wa me out dated had stains everywhere holes in the sheets. Was told I have to wait til morning for clean & intact bedding. That’s not it woke up to unidentifiable bugs crawling on me. Was told they can’t switch my room or do anything until I capture or take a picture of the bugs. Then found bed bugs. Was finally after 2 days able to speak w the hotels manager no apology or anything just moved our room after being displaced in pajamas for 2 hours. I asked for contact info for the CEO and still waiting for a response from him.

Located in downtown Las Vegas by the Fremont Street Experience, this is a low key hotel with rooms that are surprisingly decent. Most come w mini fridges and Keurig coffee makers. They seem spacious w some having couches while others have are work desk. Easy access from freeways. 24 hour dining available. Casino Bar right in front of check-in desk. I recommend this for those on a budget that do not want all the glitz that the Strip hotels have.

The casino part is great. I love the old style Vegas. We were gambling there, and the odds seem much better than on the strip. Friendly staff. Good place to go in old Vegas

A group of us had after work drinks at one of the lounges. It was a nice casual atmosphere and the service was really friendly and helpful. While we weren't able to stay for food we were offered $5 happy hour appetizers which appeared to be a good value. I'm assuming from the El Cortez website that we were at the Parlour Bar. I would definitely recommend it for a quick downtown happy hour stop. It was not very busy on a Thursday afternoon.

For the price, you can't beat it. There is a lot of history here. I've stayed here once or twice and remember a lot about this place. When you walk in the building, you are hit with smoke Their ventilation isn't great. But the rooms were big, clean and the price was right. Great location, too. I remember staying here with my buddy Adam. We were in Vegas far too long, but what a great trip. I would recommend this place for people visiting for the first time, or those that are looking to save some money on your stay. Enjoy!

I have never stayed at El Cortez - my review is solely on the atmosphere and general public casino/bars/restaurants. El Cortez is a little slice of history! They really focus on it too, which is pretty awesome. Everytime we stop in at El Cortez for drinks the staff is always awesome. We've also stopped in the indulge in pizza from their pizza restaurant - pretty good and nicely priced! El Cortez seems to be pretty budget friendly all around - they constantly have $5 drink specials and their Parlour Bar has 2 for 1 drinks during two separate happy hours!

For the price we paid I was very happy with the experience. My wife and I stayed in a tower room for a couple days while looking for an apartment in Las Vegas. Because it was during the week we were able to get the room for about 50 bucks per night. The room technically cost only 35 dollars but like all hotels in Vegas there was also a resort fee. There really isn't any resort here so that's pretty annoying but nearly all hotels in Vegas do this. The room was nice and large and had a mini fridge which was a nice feature. The bed was mediocre but not terrible. The bathroom was very dated but functioned fine. The location of the hotel is good if you want to go and explore Fremont street but don't want to hear all the noise from it all night long. Just walk a block and you're there, but you can't hear it if you want to sleep at normal hours. All the staff were extremely friendly and nice to talk to. We don't gamble but the casino seemed fine, lots of fancy newer machines, but also lots of older coin machines. Personally I find Fremont street more interesting that the Strip, but i have no interested in overpriced designer clothing.

As a Las Vegas local, El Cortez Cabana Suites is my go-to choice for when I want to take a "staycation". Rooms are extremely affordable, averaging around $40/night, with the lowest resort fees I can find. Convenient free parking garage for across the street for guests. Rooms are modern and extremely tacky, but in a good way (lime green paint, black and white furnishings), and adequately comfortable. Don't expect the nicest bed or amenities. I've also stayed in regular hotel rooms that are much larger than these 'suites'. For the price, however, it's perfect.
