This is my last choice of the four campuses. I seem to frequently receive notifications through the EFSC alert system notifying me of lockdowns on this campus. As it is the main campus, it's congested, and it's hard to find some of the buildings you're looking for, especially if you haven't taken classes at the campus. I don't like the set up of their testing labs. They do have unique events at this campus, however, that other EFSC campuses do not offer. If it's close to your home, it may be an adequate option. However, if you have the opportunity to choose which campus you'd like to attend, I'd recommend the Palm Bay campus which has excellent teachers, an easy to follow campus layout, friendly people, ample parking, and a wonderful learning/testing lab.
This used to be a good college, and I moved from Orlando just to go here, but now it seems like I'm the only college kid in my classes and everyone else is from high school. It's hard to listen in class because these 16 year olds are gossiping and not caring because they get it for free and here I am paying approx 100 per credit hour. It also seems like the professors have dumbed things down to the point if I use my vocabulary to respond or write a paper, they think I'm reading it straight out of the book (I'm not). I will be transferring at the end of fall.
Teachers and staff are good which is what it's all about but, the basic math classes everyone needs filled up in a month and they didn't open more. In addition basically every building could use renovating.
Current student in HVAC finishing up for certification. This school is just horrible with customer service. Anytime you have an issue or problem you need handled it will most likely result in talking to 4 different people in 4 different departments and you most of the time have to get a provost or somebody higher up involved. My first year in the HVAC program we had to pay for on hands training and we ended up with no on hands training. I complained to the provost and she assured me next semester would be much different. The following semester it was the same problem. This school is just an easy money maker for them. You will find that the people living within a 1/4 mile around the campus are all low income and always crime in the area. Save your money!!!
Great campus! Planetarium does laser light shows with music from artists like led zeppelin, pink floyd, the doors, U2, the beatles, mannheim steamroller, etc. $7 tickets. Shows are every friday and saturday night@9 pm.
Huge library with plenty of quiet places.
Just don't hang out too long after dark. Bad neighborhood across street. Other than that, great place to take the kids for some fun and education.
It makes my time in Cocoa better.
