I've been there for the Good Guys car shows in June and the Duchess County fair in August. The fairgrounds are beautiful and well maintained with much of the area paved. There are many shade trees, buildings and places to sit and relax. There are a variety of food vendors in a central location. Bathrooms are plentiful and clean.
We come up here for the wool and fiber show. Excellent representation of wool from the Sheep to the finished product. There are always product demonstrations, animal demonstrations, a huge food area. Additionally if you're looking to start your own herd of goats or sheep or alpaca there is an animal auction as part of the event. A nice pair of pregnant ewes went for about $300 is this last visit
This is a delightful place in the fall. The grounds are lovely. There are plenty of clean bathrooms. The food at events is very good.
Fine country fairground. Support for a variety of good organizations. There is a descent food court. Plenty of generally free parking.
Did the half marathon second time in past 5 years. The parking is easily accessible. They need to have a much better post run celebration than the little they do and perhaps a pre race health and fitness expo the day before. The volunteers were wonderful but the race organizers could do so much more. I give three stars because the volunteers are the best part just not impressed with the other facets. I would like to thank the wonderful police officers who also helped traffic control on the course wonderful people
The fairgrounds are clean, safe, and easily accessible. There are paved sections and indoor areas for you various needs. It's great to see fairs still happening; a classic pastime of Americana.
Exactly what you imagine a county Fair should be like at the end if Summer. Tons of different food vendors, crafts, music, rides and games. This fair has everything from pig races to homemade bread loafs to jugglers and everything in between. Would highly recommend going at least once in your life!
We went to the Good Guys Nationals car show. Beautiful fairgrounds
Great place for a venue like the country living Fair. Adequate restrooms and places to sit.
The only positive thing I have to say about the Dutchess County Fair was the parking was organized. I even overheard other people complaining about the crowds and everything being excessively overpriced. This was the first time I have gone and may be the last.
One of the best fairs EVER!!! The best rides there are definetly the Waveswinger, Vertigo, Genesis, Rock and Roll, and the Alien Abduction. If you haven't yet, you have to try the hot dogs here! Best hot dogs I've ever tasted! There is also plenty more good food here, like the pizza, fries and burgers. The 4H farm animals and the animals at the miniature zoo are so cute! The only hard part is parking, even if there are people navigating you around the parking areas. It's just proof that this fair is the bomb! The Dutchess County Fair has something for just about everybody!!!!!!
I attend two events here each year - the Dutchess County Fair and the NY Sheep and Wool Festival.
A few things stand out:
1) Super organized when it comes to traffic flow and parking. There are always tons of people directing the flow into the parking areas. There are usually police directing the flow of traffic from the road. Excellent. Every time.
2) Bathrooms. There are many. They are spread out, so you never have walk too far to reach one. And they are very clean and always functional. (no smelly stalls and broken locks here) There are usually people in them directing folks to empty stalls to help speed the line along. (obviously, I'm talking about the women's restroom)
3) The grounds are just lovely. Lots of trees, plenty of space. Good variety of areas - shady, sunny, etc. Well maintained. Clean.
