Very nice room. Dog friendly which was an added bonus to us. Liked that they had a bar and restaurant attached so after a long day driving we could just eat and drink there. Pretty reasonable considering it was a weekend. Would definitely stay again.
I'll start with the good: the gentleman at the desk (Justin) was amazing and friendly, and he even gave my SO and me a discount because we didn't quite have enough to cover the room after a wedding. 10/10 would visit again just to talk to this gentleman. The room was clean, and the halls were quiet.
There's very little else that impressed me. We weren't given cookies upon check-in (which is one of the HUGE promotions of Double Tree.) When we realized we had forgotten a phone charger we tried to call the front desk, but the phone didn't work in the room. Tried to call the "Careline" and the phone didn't work. Walked down to the lobby to see about buying or borrowing a charger and grabbing some snacks.
The snacks which were available were very minimal, and most of the things on their pricing list were not even present on the shelf. It's almost as though nobody had thought to restock the commissary? When I asked the front desk if they had a charger available, they informed me they didn't and were kind enough to tell me about a couple of 24 hour stores close by where I could buy one. (very thankful for that.) When I told the man at the front desk about our room phone not working, he informed me that it was out of his control and I'd have to tell someone else in the morning. I mentioned the bare - bones commissary: he shrugged and told me they sell the same stuff and more at those 24 hour stores I was going to need to visit for a phone charger.
I've never been more ready to check out of a hotel. Many thanks to Justin for being a wonderful employee, but there were just too many issues to give a good review of this hotel.
This hotel was fine, but not exceptional, even compared to other DoubleTree hotels I've stated in. The door had light shining in the entire way around, which was a distraction and undesirable for sleeping; it's an problem when an upmarket brand doesn't get the basics right. My co-worker had the same issue in a different room. Pillows didn't seem like the usual DoubleTree ones, or they were old; either way mine were flat and not very supportive or comfortable. On the plus side, WiFi was fine, staff was friendly, airport shuttle service was prompt.
The hotel was nice and quiet. Rooms were clean. Nice amenities. Free water, cookies, bar drink. The heating/cooling system was inconsistent. The room was either too hot or too cold.
Remodeling in progress ( daytime loud noises). Nice reception/greetings, free set of water bottles ( nice touch), free drinks one night in the attached bar ( top shelf liquors), fairly decent pool, small hot tub, fairly decent workout room. Rooms nice, bathrooms clean and well stocked. Rooms service !! In Bloomington!! Nice surprise for this primarily college town :)
I've attended numerous functions at the DoubleTree. The rooms are always clean and the staff is friendly. The food has been wonderful.
Food was great. However it was not what was on the invite and since I don't know if that was a mic yup of my company or the double tree I won't hold it against them. Exceptionally nice facility. Very clean.
UPDATE (9/16): Rating updated from 1 to 3 stars, for admittedly fantastic (post-stay) customer service. When we returned home, my wife called the hotel to tell them about our horrible stay. She got in touch with Sara(h?), a manager, who was the exact antithesis of almost our entire experience: professional, courteous, and caring. She was very apologetic about our concerns, seemed upset that they weren't addressed while we were there, urged us to give them another chance, and even went so far as to refund a generous portion of our total bill (something we never requested).
One star for the stay itself, five for the service, evens things out at 3 stars. Admittedly, I still don't think this will be our first choice of hotel when we return, but it's good to know that they stand behind their service and are willing to go the extra mile to make things right.
Very nice. Had a great breakfast and great rooms. Loved the 2 sinks and warming lamp in the bathroom. Also provided hair dryer!
One of the best hotel breakfasts with an omelet station. Staff is friendly and I like the direct connection it had with Friday's. This is a real plus on those cold nights when you don't want to go out somewhere to eat. TV selection is good, most of the popular channels plus HBO. Rooms are quiet and I rarely hear my neighbors.
I was visiting the double tree for my senior class luncheon and the service was magnificent. The food was delicious and they provided more than enough for our class. The staff was friendly and polite, they helped with the sound and technical support which was superb.
We were there for a fundraiser event. The space looked like it had recently been renovated; the finishes were lovely. Dinner was delicious and the staff were all polite and helpful.
It's a wonderful establishment. I often times eat dinner in the building attached to the DoubleTree, and I see management and employees often. Everybody is super friendly, and the hotel is always in pristine condition.
I have always loved this place. They have a good reputation in town. We attended a dinner event and didn't do much in the hotel this time, but have been around the hotel before and it is always clean and professional looking
I would say at this hotel was just okay. The rooms we're comfortable but didn't feel completely clean. The bar slash restaurant was just okay also and the food very basic and low on presentation. They did have some entertainment in the bar with someone playing guitar and singing who was pretty decent. The attached TGI Fridays had much better ambiance and bartenders who had a better handle on how to do things besides poor or serve beer as I experienced inside the Doubletree. I would say I am 50 50 as to whether I would stay here again.
