This is where we have always stayed. We stay in concierge as we feel it makes the stay more pleasant, and is cheaper in the end. Years ago, when the kids were much younger, the story time with cookies and milk was dreamy. We will never forget those nights. The property is well equipped and 10/10 for location. Staff is mostly exceptional, except the odd person. This is to be expected anywhere though. Prices are way too high now though. The deals used to be much better.

Disney and the Grand California SUCKS!!! Disneys greed has packed the masses in like cattle. Wait in line for everything. The most unhappy place on the planet. Tomorrow is veterans day and these greedy animals could care less about the veterans. Veterans discounts are a joke. I just ordered a whole pizza and 3 fountain drinks 65 bucks. This place sucks and even my kid wants to leave.

It was a nice overnight stay. The room was spacious and clean. I love fluffy beds and I sank right. Only thing I didn't like was there was no bathtub in our room. we couldn't give my 2 year old niece a bath. Luckily we were only there for one night. The lobby is gorgeous.it smelled like gingerbread due to the big sculpture for the holidays.

Late dinner at Storytellers Restaurant. Thank hostesses were pleasant, greeted me with a smile, took me immediately to my table. I was asked for my drink order, which was correct and promptly delivered. My server, Tiffany, was very pleasant, perceptive and offered suggestions for dinner that were spot on! My meal was delivered exactly as ordered, cooked to perfection and was the perfect temperature. Desserts were fabulous! They were light, which was appreciated after a full, late night meal, and they were delectable. Amazing flavors!!! Could not find a better dining experience.

This was our third time to stay at the Grand Californian and we were very happy as usual. The construction was not much of an issue at all and we stayed in one of the newly re-done rooms. Looking back on previous stays the rooms were starting to get a little worn (almost shabby) before the renovation; it was time for a facelift. But I love what they've done in the rooms, especially the bathrooms. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is good, and you can't beat the location. Can't wait to go back!

Stopped in for a drink at Hearthstone, ended up staying there for quite some time with more drinks and food with a couple of friends. I've been here a few times and always love it. One of the servers actually went out of her way to go get us a special item from the white water restaurant/bar. The drinks on the menu are decent, they are very sweet though. I had the ultimate Long island ice tea, but I didn't taste a drop of alcohol. I need some of the alcohol flavor so I ended up ordering double Jack and cokes.

Incredibly friendly welcome from the time we arrived. Guest services was friendly and helpful, the bell service gentleman was amazing, and the lobby is absolutely stunning and spacious. Great access to California Adventure theme park. We stayed as a Disney Vacation Club guest. The room was clean and inviting with a nice patio. Very spacious and comfortable accommodations. The air worked well, which was very needed with the weather in the 90's. The staff at the pool were very helpful and friendly and took time to chat and joke around with us. The pools are wonderful. Clean and big, with plenty of room for relaxing. There are three pools in all, which provides lots of options whether you have kids or not. Good dining options with plenty of great atmosphere. The stay is certainly pricy (vacation club helps with that), but the experience is top-notch.

5 Stars for the ground floor amenities. Just beyond the front desk lobby you'll find an awesome atrium, all 6 floors of the hotel in staggered layers up to the wooden beam lodge ceiling.
There is an old style TV continuously running classic Disney cartoons to a semi-circle of child sized chairs. Large, comfortable chairs and couches offer places to sit and relax or chat with friends and family.
Leather chairs and rockers face a crackling fire in the huge fireplace. Sometimes you'll even find a park ranger sharing stories of the wilderness.
Nearby, a beautiful grand piano sits at the ready for the talented house pianists' regular performances. Or sometimes you'll hear it playing all by itself.

Way over priced for what it is.
It's certainly not a bad hotel, but the premium price buys you very little. I just felt gouged.
It's not like going to the 4 Seasons or some 1st class hotel, more just like a mild step up from an average hotel.
The service was nothing to write home about. Long car lines to get in. Long lines to check in at the front desk. Long lines to then get your car, etc.
And the fees to park your car there are absolutely outrageous. That can add $200 to your bill.
I also had a room near the lobby and the noise was pretty awful. You could hear a loud piano concert while my kids were sleeping, etc.
I'm willing to pay top dollar if it's truly better and its a mild upgrade from a surrounding hotel.response / report this review -

Even though there was construction and the website clearly says it, we didn't notice it at all. We LOVED the entrance straight into the park. The two down falls for why i gave a 4 star: one is I hope one day they might add a no splash or adult only pool. It was a little hard for my husband and I to relax at the pool after being at the park all day as well as not having enough loungers or chairs, we had to put our stuff and sit on a wall. And two; its a little pricey for us to bring our 5 kids because we will need a two bedroom, but hope one day we will be able to.So for now we will be staying at a hotel close by with the kids. otherwise we enjoyed our stay for our 5 year anniversary!!

Room is spacious for our large party. Employees are helpful and very kind. Unfortunately the pool was closed, but there was a courtesy shuttle over to the Disneyland Hotel pool that ran frequently. Having an entrance right into California Adventure was nice with young children, especially ones that insist on changing after getting wet on the water rides. Well worth the money to be pampered and treated so graciously!

We ate at the story tellers cafe and got the buffet style. The food was delicious although very filling we could only have 2 plates each for 32$ per person. But it was so satisfying we felt it was worth it. Others may not feel the same and to be honest sometimes the quality does depend on the day of the week. Also the wait was only about 20 to 30 minutes. We had a drink at the bar around the corner before returning to check to see if our table was ready. They had already called our name out but they said they would seat us anyway. All around a great experience.

My one night stay was short but amazing. If you've never stayed at a nice hotel before staying a luxury Disney hotel is impressive. As I pulled into the lot the gate guard asked for our name and put the last name on a sheet on the car. We pulled up and the valet asked "Checking in Mr Alley?" and correctly pronounced my name which was nice. Only a few minutes into my stay and I already felt welcome and ready to start relaxing. All of the staff was friendly and the hotel and grounds were immaculate. Unfortunately the pool was closed due to refurbishment but that meant when we wanted to go to the pool we got shuttled via golf cart to the Disneyland Hotel pool which had fun Monorail slide. Again the lifeguards shuttling were pleasant to chat with and while it was a bit of an inconvenience (our room was very close to the pool) it made the stay interesting. We ate at Storyteller's and decided to have the buffet, the service was once again impeccable and everyone was friendly. We had made a reservation and that got us seated quickly even though we arrived much earlier so we could try and relax in the jacuzzi. The buffet felt somewhat limited on options but the food was delicious, definitely try the corn chowder. The sliced meats were fantastic I enjoyed the roast while my wife preferred the pork loin. I didn't use the spa but seriously considered it as the prices were more than reasonable. I took advantage of the brisk walk through the park the next morning which was a very fun extra that you can sign up for each day.(You must sign up ahead of time) Overall the stay was wonderful from start to finish I will definitely be back hopefully for my next half marathon.

Nice hotel room. It was really convenient to enter the park and return for naps mid day. My only complaint is room service tried to enter at 8:45pm, we have young kids that were already asleep I didn't even think to put a do not disturb sign up. Don't other families visit this hotel? Seems pretty really late to me.

We stayed at this gorgeous hotel on three occasions with the last time being in December 2016. Â
Where do I start. Â As soon as you walk in, your hit with this "magnificent view of a humongous tall redwood tree in the lobby!" Â Kinda reminds me of "Bass Pro Shop."
The lobby itself is enormous with a huge fireplace where they tell stories at night. This being one of Disney's high end hotel is all that. The staff are attentive to your needs and assist you in every way. Â They tend to the guests smaller children while parents check in and afterward deliver you bags to your room.
The rooms itself are clean and roomy but "your not here for the room, unless your on your honeymoon!" :-) Â "Ahem", as I was saying, our room afforded us with a balcony view of Downtown Disney which lights up at night and is nice to look at along with the nightly fireworks. Â
The hotel has several restaurants downstairs which require a reservation but walk -ins are welcome. Â The best thing to me was the fact that you had exclusive access to California Adventure through a rear gate which comes out at the river ride. Â The other end brings you out into Downtown Disney, another great benefits for guests.
We discovered that you can have your purchases from any of the two parks delivered right to the hotel!!! Â "Hello" That really helped when buying things (junk) while in the park and not having to carry them around like a vagabond. Â And in the end, the days go by so fast and it's time to leave for the long trek home. Â :-(
