Great place. The man that helped us was great. Free coffee and a wonderful little store. The horse and buggy pretzels are the best I ever had

I love the Amish since I am into simple living. I grew up in the projects of NYC but yearned for the life I saw on Little House on the Prairie. Seeing the Amish is a fulfillment of my childhood.

I make a stop at Discover Lancaster every time I'm passing through the area. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and they have souvenirs that are truly unique. The facility is clean, well kept and kid friendly.

The Visitors Center is informational, but they don't tell you everything you need to know about Lancaster. There are numerous puppy mills in the area. Please don't buy any puppies or dogs from the Amish or Mennonites, you may be getting a puppy mill pup. The Mothers of the puppies are kept in small boxed cages with no sunlight, no Vet care, no grooming, no toys, no loving. They're kept in these boxes just to have puppies, then when they can't produce anymore they're shot. They treat the dogs like machines. If you still aren't convinced and still want to buy a puppy from them, ask to see the Mother and Father, ask to see where they came from if the farmer refuses go elsewhere.

A must stop before exploring Lancaster. Very helpful staff will provide you with maps and information on whatever sights you wish to see. It's a big county and a little "inside" guidance goes a long way.
