Went as a group (without a reservation) for breakfast and it’s was amazing! Was able to see about seven different dishes and not one person had an issue of the 15. Fantastic service!!! Can’t get enough!
I have visited Dexter's occasionally throughout the years, usually for Brunch, but also for the random lunch run or birthday dinner with a crowd. I'm never disappointed by the food or service, rarely surprised by the bill, and always impressed with the atmosphere and charm.
Some standout dishes include the duck sandwich, the mahi & pepper jack grits, the burgers, and Dexter's Special - a menu item not to be confused with the daily specials, which are always worth trying if the pique your interest. That said, I have truly never been disappointed by any menu item I ventured to order, so explore to your heart's content.
Highly recommended to anyone visiting town, staying with family, or newcomers to the city.
I don't need to recommend it to us folks who live here, 'cause we already . know!
Good place but we can't eat because the kitchen was closed, for a Saturday close the kitchen at 11 pm I think is a bad idea.
Dexter's has great food and a nice environment. I didn't have to wait long for my food at all and the servers were attentive. Normally, I would go back to a place like this but it seemed like all of the employees hated their lives and working there. If they were friendly in the least bit, I'd go back.
Nice service, comfortable atmosphere! They have a good bier selection and the food is also ok.
Update: Unfortunately their food is getting worse. I ordered Fresh Pesto pasta which looked very good but was swimming in oil. Same thing with my green salad and my friend's Mediterranean Pasta. Also my husband's Burger was extremely salty. Service is still nice and friendly though. And it is also still a good place to hang out with friends but I will not order food there anymore.
It was amazing, food and service was great. The waitress and waiters were wonderful. Wish we had a place this back home.
Always great food and mimosas Great atmosphere and a top location. When you are done it's a short walk to lake eola market.
The vibe and surrounding were upbeat, yet relaxing for lunch time.
However, I ordered the Salmon with Tomato Marmalade and couldn't finish the dish. The marmalade took over the plate and made the whole thing inedible.
Went back after staying away too long. I won't let that happen again! Food and vibe make this the best spot in Thornton Park. Had Father's Day brunch with family and will return in a couple weeks. Standouts on this visit were the French toast (kids ordered two of the same), an unbelievable brunch special of chicken with a marsala sauce, cauliflower, and seasoned potatoes. Highly recommended!
Nice and fun place to hang out in a historic neighborhood. Sophisticated staff and menu. Good food, decent prices.
I was pleasantly surprised by this downtown eatery. Most places downtown serve small portions of bland, overpriced food, particularly in the nearby area. I came here around noon for lunch and had no problem with parking.
I got the skirt steak cobb salad, and it was enormous and absolutely amazing.
The steak was cooked perfectly. I tried to eat the salad in a somewhat dignified manner but it really didn't work. I think it was about a half a head of lettuce, covered in delicious bleu cheese dressing and topped with bacon. The steak next to it was spiced nicely and went really well with the salad.
The service was quick and attentive. By the time I left, the parking lot was full, so it helps that I was there several minutes before noon. I'll be going back!
Food is good. The beer selection is good and changes enough to keep you asking. There are always people there, definitely a neighborhood favorite. Plus local artists are featured on the walls.
I love this place! Great atmosphere, good service and food. I was there on a Sunday, it was packed! You may have to wait a few minutes to be seated.
I ordered chicken and waffles (it's not on the menu but ask for it) I also ordered a Mimosa $2.95
They have a few tables outside so you can enjoy the weather and even bring your pet with you. Parking is limited but they do have parking behind the building including a handicap parking spot. There is addictional parking on the street.
Dog friendly!!! The manager Darren met and seated us (myself and my Yorkie) personally! Great atmosphere! My waiter was attentive and suggested what turned out to be a fabulous brunch dish! We'll definitely dine at Dexter's again!
