  The Detroit Film Theater (in the DIA) is an impressive old-style theater. They run a limited selection of foreign and art-house type films, which are hard to find elsewhere, and that is much appreciated.
  
  The theater itself, while beautiful, is unfortunately pretty uncomfortable. The seats themselves are a bit unpleasant, but far worse is the fact that the rows are too close together, so even average-height patrons will be banging their knees constantly.

  Great place for independent films. Crystal Ballroom is perfect for a mellow adult beverage before a film. Just wish theater seating was more comfortable.

  Art. Good art. There is lots of the art. I don't know much about art, but I know it's location, and it is here. It's other places too, but a good amount of it is here. I liked the paintings and the other art too. I liked the diet Pepsi as well. 5 stars

  The Detroit Film Theater is a beautifully restored theater within the Detroit Institute of Arts. I attended a film premiere there last night and it was amazing! The receptions were held in the Crystal Cafe upstairs. This space is an architectural treasure with it's soaring ornate windows, gorgeous chandeliers, intricate tile work, huge mirrors, and marble work. It is stunning! There were guests visiting from all over the U.S. and Italy for the event and I was so proud to show them our hometown.
