I really liked the cafe. They have the best butternut squash and sweet potato soup I have ever had! When you first arrive it can be confusing but you order your food inside the store and the kitchen will call your name. They have a great menu and while I can't say I had time to try it all I can say that everything I had was good. Note that if you are expecting a completely vegan meal read carefully. I thought I was getting vegan egg scramble (Tofu crumble) and toast, I ate regular eggs and they were great too. Key West is beautiful and while they have outdoor seating it isn't protected from the elements so you aren't going to enjoy a hot cup of tea, coffee or a hot breakfast while it pours down rain. In addition the kitchen closes at 4 p.m. if you walk like I did for the majority of my trip you need to know that so you have time to make it there before the doors close. I give this four stars only because I stood around for several minutes and finally just had to ask someone how to order and where. The staff was pleasant but not very helpful. When I asked a lady what Bulletproof coffee was she said "it has oil in it.." who would try that? I did research later and I've decided if I ever make it back, I'll try it because i heard they make the best around!
Fresh, local, healthy, and delicious food. Friendly community environment. I always feel great after I eat here. I’ve had everything on the menu. My favorites are: ‘island burrito’ (add an egg on it, so good), chipotle sauce is so yummy. ‘Breakfast Bagel’ is an egg sandwhich bursting apart with tomato onion and a little vegan mayo that just makes it. Smoothie: coco berry with date and coconut butter tastes like a strawberry milkshake but I feel like a million bucks. It’s always exciting to find a place that has food that’s so tasty AND it makes your body feel great!
Wonderful food! The Acai Bowl is delightful and refreshing, the Berry Bliss smoothie is bright, rich and packs a beautiful berry flavor as well. The staff are amazing and helpful, and the seating area outside is warm and inviting. We love this little slice of organic heaven in the Keys!
Good clean eating. A little hard on the wallet but darn good food and fresh juices. Plenty of plant based and vegan options.
Awesome place. Loved the food, smoothie and outdoor seating. My wife said she would go there a lot if we lived in Key West. She rarely says that, so that's a plus.
Great place for some amazing vegan food. This was the first restaurant we tried after reaching Key West. A lot of cafes in Key West has this concept of Grocery Store + Cafe where a part of the establishment is a grocery store and there is a cafe right next to it. This is one of that kind.
Food:
They have a good wide range on their menu, a majority of them vegan - which is a great news. We started off with Frozen Mocha and Chocolate Buzz smoothies. All of their smoothies and juices are vegan unless noted otherwise. Both the smoothies were great and worth trying. For our meal, we went for Rise & Shine Bagel (Cashew cream cheese, tomato, and avocado on a plain whole wheat bagel), a half Pesto Garden Wrap (carrots, cucumber, tomato, avocado, broccoli, onion, and sprouts tossed in a pesto with vegan mayo, spicy pumpkin seeds and mixed greens) and a Black bean burger (served on a sprouted whole grain bun with chips and slaw). Rise & Shine Bagel was great. Bagel, unlike traditional ones, wasn't at all chewy and had a good bite. The cashew cream cheese, tomato, and avocado came together really well. Pesto Garden Wrap was good but not very impressive. To begin with, the wrap wasn't wrapped properly and it fell apart as soon as out from paper. However, the taste was good. What impressed us the most was the black bean burger which was probably the best we had till date. The patty tasted amazingly well with great seasoning. The chips and slaw were great too. Overall, a great meal.
Ambiance:
It is quite an open place with a couple of chairs and tables outside. The cafe is located at a junction so it is quite a buzzing place. There is also one sofa and a couple of high chairs too. Along the high chairs, the platform, acting as a table, is along the wall and there are a couple of magazines and flyers which will help you get information about where to go around the city and the water sports to indulge in. Very casual atmosphere. Green is the theme of the restaurant (furniture etc) which is quite soothing to the eyes.
Service:
The service was quite good. Not very quick but if you are in a relaxing mood you can use the wait time to just sit back and enjoy the weather. Plates disposal, to large extent, is by self - into one of their two trashes - regular trash and recycle trash. However, there would be employees who'd do that if they notice.
Overall, a great place for having an amazing vegan meal - especially breakfast.
Saw this place had organic food, so I was immediately attracted. Coffee options were very tasty. I highly suggest the breakfast wrap. Avocado, eggs, tomato, and lots of crunchy lettuce!! Strong contrast to all the "tourist" places. The market has all my favorite organic snacks.
I walked a mile to come here 2 days in a row and I might do it again tomorrow.
Thanks guys!
Everything is very fresh, well-made, and tasty. The organic grocery section offers many affordable options, most especially considering the small size and location. The outdoor seating is ample and mostly covered, in case of rain.
Best Ever breakfast bagel and the juices are fantastic! Best place in key west!
This is something new food we tried. But to me it's not so great I could not enjoy the flavours well. But may be once in a time you can try this.but they are friendly. We ordered smoothie which we didn't like. But the were kind enough to gave us a different one of our choice and even refunded the difference
Enjoyed the relaxed mood and outdoor seating. Loved the delicious and nourishing food! I ate the chicken salad wrap as well as the breakfast wrap the next morning; they were both yummy and stuffed to bursting with sustenance. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Keys and looking for reasonably priced, healthy food.
I loved this place ! It's actually a best place if you need right food to go on Key West! Perfect coffee and amazing breakfasts .
Date & Thyme catered for my wedding. Brielle was very kind and helpful. The wraps we ordered were delicious. The hummus wraps are a must if you intend to visit here. They were demolished at the wedding!
There is more to this place though than the wonderful food. They were willing to help us out of a bit of a problem we faced. The bakery where our cake was being made closed considerably earlier than the wedding was to take place. Date & Thyme stored our cake for several hours and kept it safe until it was time to pick up the food! They were also very kind to my groom when he came in to pick up the catering. Thank you so much guys!
Their sunshine bagel breakfast is worth the drive!
