Good place to stop for Monogaheli National Forest info.
This place is so awesome and friendly people who works there
Snakes - lots of them in aquariums and Snake shows. Lots of great displays for kids. Picnic tables. Snacks. Information on this unique ecosystem.
Great Source of information about plants and animals that you may encounter in the forest
Live snake exhibits, outdoor supplies/ apparel,And games for kids
Stopped in search of a rest room and stayed for the informative displays.
The poop identification display, despite the subject matter, is fascinating. Some stuffed animals on display that are actually in pretty decent condition and not the usual rather sad looking examples of the taxidermists art that one so often finds at places like this.
Nice selection of live local snakes to see as well.
Well worth a visit.
This is a great little center. They have picnic tables spread around outside in different areas right off the parking lot and near the center. They have a sand table inside for the kids to play with and footprints to make impressions in the sand. They have a nice little stuffed animal area too and live snakes. A few other little things to see. You can get a map there for the area. We went to see the upper falls and did the easy 1/4 mile hike. Nice hike for little kids, but not much to see waterfall wise. The only knock to this place was the bathrooms, not kept up too much, but we did go on an "event" day so there may have been alot more traffic than usual.
Nice center that offers stuffed and live specimens of what animals can be found in the park. Small center, and can feel a bit overwhelming when crowded. They have snacks and drinks available for purchase, plus a water fountain. Clean restrooms. They have a small auditorium with occasional nature talks. Staff is happy to help, even assisted us in finding a cafe to have lunch upon leaving the park. Parking lot is big enough for the crowd and located by trails.
