We came back after five years, with our 6- and 14-year old children. Our stay was absolutely lovely - The Cabin on Back Creek Farm is meticulously maintained, very clean and spruce, and very comfortable. We enjoyed the chaise lounges by Upper Back Creek, grilling and eating outdoors, walking around the property on the freshly mown path, cooking in the lovely kitchen, and the cool breezes. Our kids were excited to explore Upper Back Creek (under supervision, of course!), to play outside, and to go with us exploring the mountains. We used the Cabin as a base for watching the Perseid meteor shower, as we had five years ago. We took several day trips - the Garth Newel Music Center for an awesome, relaxed jazz concert; the Green Bank Observatory; hiking at Seneca Rocks, and exploring Highland County. We felt utterly at home - as a city mouse and a vagabond occasional country mouse, this escape to peace, quiet, and privacy was relaxing and refreshing. Chatting with Valerie and Pat at the sugar shack, sampling their innovative maple syrups, and getting their advice on things to do, were all unexpected bonuses. We will be back!
