I had a terrible experience. In the beginning when we first arrived we had amazing service and friendly help. We asked about breakfast and was told the times it was served. My mother in law requested a wake up call for breakfast to eat. Not only did we never receive this call but when we went down stairs to ask about breakfast we were told it was not available as the truck was late. As we were leaving the staff LAUGHED at the fact that we requested this wake up call. This was a terrible experience for us and I didn't want to make my mother in law upset by asking to speak with someone. I understand that the breakfast wasn't served I don't know the protocol over this but they could have called to tell us it wasn't available so we could leave to eat. Will NOT be coming again

Okay where do I start. I guess the number one problem I shouldn't have never chosed a hotel that's right by a nature highway. So if you're not prepared to hear cars running up and down I-35 all night this is not the spot. Okay the weekend I was there I was on the third floor and the elevator was down from Friday to Sunday no elevator up and down the stairs so I was very unhappy about that. As far as the room starting with the bathroom door I think it was some foundation issues going on with the establishment couldn't close the bathroom door it would jam. The carpet was dirty. And the TV had a line running down the center of the picture a wide line so I'm not sure what's going on with that. Wasn't the best weekend in this facility but it wasn't the worst so if you're looking for something in between the best and the worst this may be your spot. The potential is definitely there but undoubtedly I don't think the owners are making sure that the customer have a good experience. I could understand the situation about the highway and the noise from the highway that's just kind of uncontrollable but I think everything else could have really been worked on by inspecting your rooms to ensure that your customer have a great experience and would gladly return without hesitation. This place is disgusting! Elevators weren't working, carpets are filthy, beds were lumpy. Never saw any cleaning crews or housekeeping at all during our 2 night stay. There was a coffee maker in the room, but no cups. Had to go downstairs for coffee and the lids they had didn't fit the cups. We had 3 people in our room and we were provided with 2 towels and one washcloth. Looking at previous reviews, this place has had these same complaints for a very long time. Obviously, there are no intentions of fixing these issues.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I understand there being difficulties with the freezing in Texas, but the management wasn't transparent. First off, the elevator was out and we were on the fourth floor. A family of five, small kids, with suit cases struggled to get everything up three flights of stairs. When we checked in, we were told that management would be getting it fixed that night. Nope. They had no intention of fixing that anytime soon. Secondly, the breakfast that was put out on Sunday was the SAME leftover breakfast from the previous day. The bread was hard, the milk wasn't good, and it was obvious that it was left there from the previous day. There were also no towels. We had one towel in our room for 5 people. When we asked for more towels, the sweet folks at the counter apologized profusely about not having any stating that their towels and pillows had been stolen. I do understand difficulties, but we had to spend a lot of extra money out of out pocket, when it shouldn't have been necessary. Hotel management was no where to be found by us or by the workers keeping the hotel up and running. I really felt bad for them as well. I will not recommend anyone to this hotel.

We had to come to hotel because of the freeze and it’s wonderful! Rooms are huge and clean! The staff is amazing very friendly and caring! Heated pool great breakfast! I cannot give enough stars we are very happy with our stay! Thankful they were warm and welcoming during this time!

Was very unsatisfied with my stay. The carpet in our room was covered in large stains, and it smelled like urine. The room felt wet and uncomfortable. I became ill by the last day of our stay and I’ve been dealing with allergy symptoms still 2 days later . I have a severe mold allergy and I can’t help but question if the room had mold. Will definitely never go back.

Polite service, clean rooms with extra comforters for each bed. The couch pull out bed isn't bad but not amazing like the super comfortable beds. The indoor pool was an ok temp and very well kept.

Absolutely awful experience, I HAD ANTS EVERYWHERE, on the floor, in my clothes, they came out of nowhere one morning (and no there wasn't any food in my room) and I didn't realize it until i put my pants on and had the worst awakening of my life, ants biting in your pants is not fun. On top of the ants i had clumps of hair in my bed, hair in the shower and a dirty bathroom. And the bed looked like it was made by a 5 year old.
Honestly I'm not one to complain, I travel for work and as long as I have a bed and shower I'm happy.
This was outrageous though, then when I told the front desk agent she was very sympathetic and nice and told me that it was awful and she would have the manager call me when he arrived that morning. Well that evening i get a call from a different front desk agent offering her empty apologies and 30% off my next stay at their hotel.
I was infuriated by this, not only is that a weak compensation for what was a terrible experience but the manager didn't even take the time to call me themselves. Please do me a favor and do yourself a favor and DON'T STAY HEREresponse / report this review -

Great stay. They have a great breakfast selection! Pool & hot tub are indoor! Nice & friendly front desk service.

If I could give minus stars I would. Hispanic chubby woman at front desk was rude and short. We arrived after 12:00 and she refused to accommodate us. She simply said check in is not till 3:00 pm, you can come back at that time. After our 7 hour trip all we wanted was a little rest before our event. She went on with lying that there was not a single room clean so there was nothing she could do. The hotel parking lot was pretty empty with a handful of cars. I know there is no way this hotel was sold out and out of rooms. She was just rude and has no business in Customer Service. I travel enough to know she could have handled it differently.

We arrived exterior work on the hotel was being done. There was plastic sheets over the windows. The first two rooms we looked at had that the third one did not so we took that. However the following day past was on that show again there was none of you. Staff and housekeeping very friendly management very helpful. Hotel is right on the freeway so traffic noise expected all night long. Well it's nice and comfortable.

Very nice, I was visiting my daughter while she was staying for the week at a college event in town. Indoor Pool and spa was nice. Rooms big and spacious and clean.

Room was like any other. Bed was a little hard and pillows were a little too soft. Biggest problem was a.c. didn't cool the room. I guess I could have said something and changed rooms but didnt want to pack and move at 11 pm. Avg hotel but had good breakfast options. Good water pressure.

They have a indoor pool. The rooms are nice. There is wifi there for whoever needs it. There is a gym but not so big. The service there is amazing. I'm happy to have gone there

I was reluctant to give 1 starbut, our room was in the perfect location. Our room was NOT clean, had a horrible smell and appeared to not have been vacuumed. Their solution was to move us to another roombut, it had missing cabinet doors, the ac wouldn't go past a certain degree (previous room would go lower), had a light bulb out in bathroom, desk chair had a huge rip in itjust in dire need of maintenance. Asked to speak to General manager and he was never there, when we were told he would be. We will never be staying here or any Carlson chain again. Horrible.

Overlooking a few minor things such as time required to in inprocess those with reservations, slowness in resupplying coffee station & repairs/replacements that eventually need to be made, the Country Inn & Suites provides a nice, clean, inexpensive hotel for families who would be more than happy with this choice. All 40-50 of our family thought it was a great place to stay overnight. A meeting room is available to socialize or conduct business. One of the best BBQ places in Texas (Hays Co) is behind the hotel. For us, it was convenient to Rio Vista Park. The oatmeal, raisin cookies in the lobby area offered to guests were excellent. The Inn Staff was more than accomodating during our two night visit to San Marcos. The manager allowed lodgers to access breakfast bar before officially set up & opened for serving at 0700.

Very comfortable, friendly place to stay. Good facilities and very clean. Breakfast was very good and lots to choose from. Will definitely be back.
