We stumbled on this place by accident and I am so glad we did! The young gentleman working was so knowledgeable and really happy to share interesting information on all the rocks, gems and minerals. We even got to throw axes out back! I had a blast and learned so much at the same time. This is one of those special family places that feels well loved. They really are passionate about their place! It's kid friendly and perfect for all ages. This place really is a gem! :D

What a great place. Super friendly people, amazing little store packed with treasures. Buy a bucket and mine for gems. We bought the biggest bucket $16.00 I believe that was a 2 gal. bucket. They have smaller buckets with cheaper prices to accommodate all price points. You keep everything you find. One of our gems is worth money according to the very nice lady sitting in the rocker on the porch who will identify your gems for you.

We enjoyed ourselves, but it was a quite pricey especially for this region. The staff was friendly and the location was peaceful. Would probably go back but as a group so costs are less substantial per person. Also definitely need a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and bug spray.

I have lived in this area my whole life and have not been to the Gem Mine. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun we had! I have two kids, age nine and three. They both enjoyed searching through their buckets to find treasures. We found quite a few gems and rocks. It was also nice and cool in the shade of the hollow on a hot day. We will most certainly be back and next time we will get the larger bucket. Thanks for the great family memory, Cooper's. Oh, and if you have a little one, you may want to have older clothes or a change of clothing on hand.

It is really kind of a fraud Buy a fun one. They buy tailings from other places some of which has been "salted" and let you sluice a bucket full Did find some nice stones, Tiger-eye and Sodalite.

Great gem hunting. The workers were terrific and fun to talk to. We got a lot of big chunks in the two gallon bucket. Pretty decent value. Throwing the tomahawks was also fun. The only downside is the place is fairly shabby.
