I was disappointed in my care for my goldendoodle who has an eye infection. I spent 3 hours here, the first two waiting and with students who got the diagnosis wrong--claiming the green goop was dry eye syndrome. After a month of expensive drops, the condition is actually worse. I called about a follow up and was told I would have to pay again (and presumably spend another 3 hours) to have her seen again. Having already dropped $200 for the visit and drops, I wasn't keen on trusting them again--especially as I found out they never cultured her eye goop and insisted that I denied them doing so, which of course I had not. I agree with other reviewers--unless you need care for rare conditions, don't take your animal here for routine visits. You will not get a lower rate like you might expect from a teaching hospital. Just a long wait and a questionable outcome.

As an alumni of CSU I have been very proud of the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. I have taken my 3 year old Golden Retriever, Captain here since he was a puppy. I am not only a proud supporter and promoter of CSU, but also of the Vet Teaching Hospital, until today. Captain woke me up this morning vomiting. I took him out and noticed he there was blood on his diarrhea, so I called the CSU Vet and they recommended I bring him in.

40 minutes into my drive from Denver I received a call from the CSU Veterinary Hospital informing me that there was an outstanding bill from 2015 that they had sent to collections, and that they would refuse to see Captain until I payed that bill. I always have paid my Vet bills at the Vet Hospital before leaving after every appointment. So I was surprised to hear this. Also my dog was vomiting and having regular diarrhea, and now they were requiring me to call the collections agency to pay the bill before seeing my sick vomiting dog.

I never received any phone calls or letters in the mail regarding this bill, and I had brought Captain in for his yearly visits in 2016 and 2017 and nobody ever told me about this bill. I called the collection agency and paid $426, just so my sick vomiting dog could be seen and treated. The original bill was for $309, and I had to pay $426, and CSU was unwilling to provide proof that they attempted to contact me before today regarding this bill.

Then when I got to the Teaching Hospital, they made me wait for 45 minutes trying to verify that I did indeed pay the bill, as my sick dog is trying not to vomit.

I have been a very proud financial supporter of my Alma Mater CSU and of the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital until today. As of now, I am disgusted by my experience today, I am disgusted by how unwilling the Vet Hospital was to listen to my story and their unwillingness to show any level of empathy, and I was infuriated by how they made me wait for 45 minutes upon arriving before my dog could be seen.

Because of my experience today I will no longer bring Captain to the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital, I will no longer support the university financially, and I will be as passionate about sharing my experience today with others as I was of a supporting promoter before my experience today.

I would like to share my experience in hopes that this Veterinary Hospital can learn from their mistakes.
I brought my golden retriever in for tests after a recommendation from another vet. The neurological team led by Dr. Jones observed my dog for a few hours and concluded he had some neurological deficit in his hind legs. They recommended an MRI, spinal tap and blood work. I returned later and met with the team. They said that all the tests showed nothing wrong. They concluded he could use some physical therapy and promised an email with recommendations for therapy and results of his tests. About 2 weeks later, I received a bill in the mail saying that additional costs had been added to my bill and demanded payment. Still no email from Dr Jones. 2 weeks later I received a call demanding payment at which point I asked them why no follow up email had been sent. Later that day Dr. Jones sent an email that she claimed had been sent shortly after my appointment. I can assure you i never received it.
So here is my conclusion. I really have no idea if the doctors are good at medicine as they were unable to find anything wrong with my dog after saying they observed issues. That cost was apx $4000. But I do know thisthey call themselves a teaching hospital and acknowledge that apx 70% of their students enter private veterinary practices. They acknowledged that different groups within the hospital have different follow up procedures and the neurological department never follows up with a phone call. If this happens in private practice they will not be in business very long. I sure hope this medical group learns how to properly train their vet students.

Frist off let me start by saying my dog was never treated here, HOWEVER I was recommended to call them from numerous friends as well as my regular veterinarian. I called bc it was suggested that since they are a teaching school, their procedures cost significantly less than other vets. When I called, I was greeted with a very rude receptionist. When I asked for a quote on a biopsy, she asked if I had an established vet and asked in a very rude tone "then why are you calling here" I told her it was suggested by my vet and other friends and was told it was cheaper to get procedures done here. She interrupted me and said "no, that is not the case were are comparable to everywhere else." I asked for how much a biopsy is she replied" I don't know" I asked for her to please get me a quote and she put me on hold, then said "let me see if they will even consider taking you as a client." She got back on and said "no they won't take you". WHAT?!?!?! After months of trying different medications on my dog and feeling so hopeless, it did not help to be turned away by a receptionist after I only heard wonderful things about the teaching school. I've spent thousands of dollars on my pup, so naturally I am going to search and see if I can get a biopsy at a reduced price! I'm still shocked that whoever answered wouldn't even allow me to schedule! The feeling she left me was dejected, discouraged and frustrated. I will take my business else where.

my dog has a very rare case of cancer that multiple other vets could not figure out. the team at CSU figured it out and my dog is undergoing treatment. everyone recommended putting her down, but CSU stayed on the case, solved the puzzle and have given me possibly years more with my dog with treatment.

they saved her life. CSU is the best cutting edge veterinary facility in the US.

Sunday takes the cake. I had a family gathering and my small dog became overwhelemed and came into the house limping. I immediately gushed over her and rushed her to the emergency room. But, when the nurse took Daisy from me and left the room, Daisy immediately started running on her foot. She had been faking it for attention! I called the supervisor today and said based on the circumstances, would she please refund the money125.00 (after they took the charge for pain killers off when I insisted she never had pain killers). Um, noyou came in. I said, yes, but there is a common sense factor here.
Now if Daisy had never left the first office, the supervisor would consider it. I said, Daisy started walking on her foot the minute she left the first office because she was away from me. But, the supervisor did not care. I'm sorry, am I out of line asking for a refund, or does not getting a refund sound just plain ridiculous to you?

My dog passed away here last year. The vet technician/student who worked with us was very kind and her empathy made all the difference. I also really appreciated the clay paw print they made me for free - I'll treasure it forever!

I can't thank the internal medicine team enough for helping my cattle dog. She had a rare problem with her nose and they have been so caring and helpful. I also paid a fraction of what VRCC quoted me. I will NEVER go back to that place, but that's a different review. The doctor I worked with, Dr. Alison Manchester, was always there to answer questions and help do what was best for my dog. Morning, night, weekends you name it.

I have also had to visit the cancer center with a different dog and had the same positive experience. I will make the almost 2 hour drive again without hesitation.

Wonderful experience with my dog. He was a resue from Texas and had heartworms. The treatment was very hard on him, 6 months of keeping him very restricted. The staff and vet's were amazing with this little guy. I am pleased to say that he tested heartworm negative this past August. Thank you for your love and devotion to our little ones.

My lab was in there 3weeks ago. I find out now that she tore her tendon away from her hind leg. Dr. Lee examined her and was questioning me why I brought her in, he couldn't find much wrong, after I insisted twice she have an Ultrasound of the hind leg or ortho. consult he had an ortho. consult done, the team wanted to fit her with custom braces for hind legs, fast forward 1week she was still no better took her to my vet, they referred her to an ortho. and of course it has torn from the bone and needs surgery. I paid CSU 263.00 for nothing!!!!!!!!

DON'T TAKE YOUR RABBIT! My rabbit died after being spayed! I called 5 hours after bringing my rabbit home telling them that my rabbit had not eaten or drank, and was sitting as though she was asleep. The student told me everything was OK, she was just fine. A few hours later we called and rushed her back to the Vet School and she became much worse within minutes, and had to be put to sleep. 4 years ago my rabbit broke his back when the student insisted that she could remove him from his carry on. They had to put him to sleep. TWO DEAD PETS IN JUST 2 VISITS!!!!! And don't think just because they destroy your pet that you don't have to pay!!!
