Went with the family on a weekend trip to Charleston in November. Our tour guide Lizzy was very knowledgeable and fun. The tour kept our three-year old entertained too.
We took the tour in mid-October and it was very educational - A great way to see the historical sights of Charleston. Eric (our guide) was wonderful and Elwood was as former Buckeye - coming from Sugarcreek, Ohio!
Went on the Civil War and Slavery to Freedom tour. Very informative, great guide. Highly recommended!
My mother and I took the Slavery to Freedom tour. Our tour guide was name Matt . It was absolutely fantastic!!!!! We learn so much about Charleston and slavery. I recommend this tour to anyone who want to get tidbits of information regarding slavery and Charleston that they've never heard before.
The highlight of our Charleston trip was the 'Slavery to Freedom' tour with Matt of Classic Carriage Tours. We thought the whole thing would be hokey, but he (& horse Larry) was fantastic -- telling the stories that need to be told to better understand the Low Country, starting back in Barbados, and coming to modern times. I only wish we could have listened to him for another hour!!! It sped by too quickly. Do this! The tour's on at 1 pm daily.
Well for the tour guide that was raised and Yankee fan then became a Braves fan this is for you. I wanted to tip you two cents in the hope to talk to you futher. But the wife would not let me. If you hate your job so much and hate tourism I would suggest moving on from your current position. We have been on many carriage rides and this one was the only bad one ever. Your pompous and arrogant beatdown of the term Holy City is uncalled for. I think that I may have stirred you when I mentioned that God built these horses to work. And you stated "God didn't build these horses man did".Ha! By far the worst trip we have ever had. My wife came off saying we would never take another one of those trips. I insured her that we would and that one bad apple will not spoil it for us. Take care God bless and I will be praying for this fellow.
Staff was very friendly and professional. Carriage driver was very knowledgeable and very personable and gave a great tour. Fun way to see the city.
The Slavery to Freedom Tour- that one hour- is life-changing. I returned home and shared snippets about it with a colleague and for him, it was life-changing. I tell myself that I have a bad memory but I am able to recall almost every detail. The guide is a vivid hi-storyteller who recounts the plight of Africans in America with remarkable honesty, insight and compassion. This tour is a must-do for lovers of knowledge and seekers of truth. God bless this young man for sharing this gift with the world. That people like him exist gives me hope for the future of race relations in America.
I highly recommend using this company. They are wonderful!
The entire staff was extremely friendly and our tour guide with "Bill" our horse was awesome! Friendly, knowledgeable all around wonderful experience! This small company is the way to go!
Had a great tour, Matt, was an amazing guide. Far beyond expectations for a carriage tour.
