We absolutely loved the museum! The only "down side" was you needed to have swimsuits to do the super awesome water works on the 2nd floor, and we somehow missed that. BRING SWIMSUITS!

It's really a wonderful kids museum. It's age appropriate for toddlers though adults. They have a "nursery" area that's great for kids under 3. There's also a "water play" area, that's really fun. If you plan on going to the water play area, bring a change of clothes, because your kids will get wet.

The cost is a bit pricey, but it really is a quality place to bring your kids.

Great experience. For families with younger children, take the elevator directly to the second floor. Work down from there. Also, the water play on the third floor is full on water-play -- plan accordingly!

Loved this place. We spent 4 hours here with 5 & 7 year olds. The whole place is interactive. I played with many myself. Well worth the money. If I lived in the area, I would buy a membership. It definitely fuels curious little minds

Awesome place for kids of any age up to 12 maybe higher. I love it and I'm sure most adults will too! We have a one year old, a 4 year old and a 9 year old and they always have so much fun and we spend hours there.

Was a blast. All kids age 12 and down enjoyed the exhibits. We also got a chance to play on an experimental touch play exhibit which played music in response to touch. Was awesome idea. Can not wait to see it in full swing.

Amazing how many large groups of summer camp kids the museum allows through in one day. That put a damper on what would have been a really great experience, because it was far too crowded. That said, though, if you can find a slow time, it is a very hands-on, creative museum, albeit a bit small. Alsono hand sanitizer ANYWHERE, which came as a big surprise.

I we t with friends to see the tower clock.I was amazed at the staff involvement , the children's excitement. I went to the gift shop. I was helped and treated very well. The four of us ate at your cafe, which is outstanding. The food is healthy and delicious a d well worth the price . Thank you for a great experience!

This is definitely a place for kids, but there is enough stuff to keep adults amused. And it is worth the price of admission to see kids having so much fun.

We would give the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh a 0 rating if we could. My wife and I took our grandchildren to the museum recently. What an awful experience it was. To begin with, the museum is UNDERSTAFFED! We counted a total of 4 employees working all 3 floors (4 floors if you count the theater). It seemed as if the employees rotate rooms
We visited the Garage room, which was very crowded, and there was one employee working in the Garage room, whom was upstairs on the balcony. Older kids were running around the garage like they owned the place, as most of the parents sat around playing on their cell phones. My 4-year old granddaughter was ran into, as my 8-year old grandson was trying to figure out how to send the balls around the room. No staff was there to show us or answer questions We went upstairs to the balcony, and there was ONE employee working the entire room. The employee was so busy making sure the kids were going down the slide one at a time, she could not help anyone else We even witnessed a child bump his head going down the slide, and again, no staff was around to see if he was ok. Ridiculous
Next we went to the Attic room, again, ONE museum staff member in the room. Kids were throwing rubber balls and running up and down the steps, as most parents played on their phone. My wife and I are elderly and tire out easily. We could not make it up the steps to take our grandson to the balance room. We told our grandson he could go upstairs on his own, then we heard him saying he wanted to go down. The staff member showed him how to get down, but we were furious!!! We noticed television monitors all over the museum advertising upcoming events, however the museum apparently does not think it's important to have a television monitor below so adults can see their children in the balance room, especially for those of us who can't make it up the stairs!!! Again, ONE staff member working the exhibit room and she could not leave the upstairs. Nobody to explain how anything works or what it is!
Once again in the water area upstairs. Older kids running around with most parents playing on their phones. ONE staff member working the entire exhibit, who was busy making ice with his back turned. Our 4-year old granddaughter was caught in the middle of a water fight. She was splashed with a bucket of water and startled to the point where she wanted to leave
Before we did, we stopped down in the theater. The staff at the desk told us to visit the submarine. I could not believe what I was seeing. An exhibit based on the story "Ice Station Zebra". For those of you younger people, here is a summary of the story

"A US submarine is dispatched to the frozen wastes of the North Pole to recover a Soviet satellite crammed full of strategic snapshots of US bases. The Cold War atmosphere becomes even chillier as the sub, with a Russian expatriate, a British secret agent and an American marine captain on board, is sabotaged en route"

Are you kidding me? Does the museum really think that's appropriate at a Children's Museum? On stage was a replica submarine from the story. We were absolutely dumbfounded!
I went on the Children's Museum of Pittsburghs web-site to see if I was mistaken I was not. In fact, there is a description of the story and the exhibit on their web-site. One caption reads:

"With maximum potential for sneaking, lurking, surprising and chatting, the project flips the conventional logic that spying is bad, and shows that spying can be fun, friendly and intelligent"

Spying can be fun? That's not something we want to teach our grandchildren! Again, we will never be visiting the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh again! Completely understaffed! In fact, dangerously understaffed!

A very good place for 2-3 year olds and up. Some of the play sets and exhibitions overlap with Carnegie Science center. If you have a membership, and goes regularly, it is definitely worth the price.
