Warning!! This place is open but in COMPLETE transition after the hurricane. Things are chaotic and none of the amenities except the pool are available. There is no beach access and it is generally noisy with work going on around the hotel. It's functioning more like a motel at the moment. The hotel website does NOT make any of this clear and we were duped into staying here. Our complaints were not adequately addressed. E.g They are not giving vouchers for other resort facilities, nor are they honest about the fact that the place is a construction site right now.

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was nice and the complimentary breakfast was actually breakfast and not continental. We'd stay here again

The room was very nice, but we had a very hard time finding the breakfast room in the morning. The location is great, as it is right on the water has amazing sunrise views.

Beautiful location. Comfortable rooms. Free breakfast. Close to all bars and restaurants and attractions. Two heated pools,so they say. Tiki bar

This place is so cute. Has a beautiful view. If you are waterfront. Would love to come back. Next time with a boat since there is a boat dock.

I like the Chesapeake. I first stayed there around 2000 with a group of Greek friends on our way from Key West to tour New Orleans, and all had a great stay. I stayed there again last month (June 2017) by myself on the way to visit Key West, and it was about like I remembered, but with a little extra shabby chic layered on with the years.
I like this place for several reasons:
1) The staff are friendly and helpful to a remarkable degree. I checked in about 10 at night and asked the receptionist about the possibility of late checkout, as I thought I might take advantage of the sailing catamarans included in the price of the stay. She said I'd have to ask the day clerk, and I basically forgot about it. Next morning I got a call from the day clerk asking if I wanted late checkout! Very unusual service. Also, I couldn't park my truck under the building as requested, so I stopped the night guard and asked where I could park. He told me to just leave it where it sat, in a side parking space; no fuss no bother.
2) They have all kinds of water toys, and beach chairs, and other sorts of playthings, and they are all included in the price. Sail, kayak, stand-up paddleboard, etc., no extra charge.
3) The breakfast is pretty good. Staged in a nice little room with a view of the Florida Straits, and fairly good quality for a hotel breakfast.
4) The guests are a wide variety of vacationers from around the world; on this stay I met a crew of sailors delivering a sailboat from South America to north Florida.
5) This is not your usual canned "Florida adventure vacation" motel in this part of the Keys. Very relaxed and geared toward stress relief.
6) The food at the nearby restaurants is quite good. Try Wahoo's next door for good fish dishes and more relaxed atmosphere.
7) Finally, there's the Keys and the surrounding water. This is one picture-book location, and everywhere you look you'll find poster-quality scenery. If you haven't spent a lot of time in the Keys this is not a bad place to start - less of the ticky-tacky tourist hucksterism than further up the Keys, less rustic than Big Pine Key, more beautiful than downtown Marathon - although Marathon is quite scenic in its own right once you get away from the highway - and not so expensive as Key West.
Recommended. Try to book a room on an upper floor with an ocean view (there are nice balconies, and also elevators).

Excellent resort. Nothing fancy, but clean and nice staff. Breakfast included was great! Use of kayaks and bikes, which we used a lot. Views from almost every room. Very family friendly, our kids had lots of other kids to play with while parents relaxed with a cocktail by the pool. We'll be back every year!

I"m sitting in the resort as I write this review. First, if you do not lay in the center of the bed, you roll off of it. The beds need to be replaced. The hotel is really showing its age, cracked and broken concrete on the steps and walk ways.
There's a children's swing set out back, its a law suit looking to happen .
The water sport equipment ,ie., kayaks have to be 20 or more years old.
Wherever you look paint is cracking, the enclosed screen in porches are ripped and ratty. If you are just staying here till you go back out fishing, OK give this place a try.
The grounds need to be cleaned. I will never stay here again. The rooms are over priced for what I'm seeing. I'm not being mean, the place is shabby. Anyone giving this place more than 2 stars, either own the place or are being paid to write an review.response / report this review -

Wife and I stayed for a couple nights with our young kids with a garden view room. Friendly service and great value. Beautiful waterfront scenery and very nice swimming pools. Room suited our needs and the free hot breakfast did the trick. We'll be back!
